Kieran Dowell

To be fair, Koeman hasn't actually said any such thing. A lot of people are putting thoughts into his mind.

The truth is, he sent him on against Twente with the the group of players that will most likely form the core of the starters. That spoke volumes to me. At the very least it means he wants to evaluate him playing with the boys who we know will be in there (Rooney, Klaasen, Gana, Schneids, etc).

Spot on, Dawg.

There were nothing games at home Vs the likes of Bournemouth and he left him on the bench for 90 minutes (when fit)

Thinking about it, if el Coco did that, then get him in.

I've lost track of what your actual point is.

Our commentary team said during the Gor game that "Koeman jumped out of his seat after Kieran had scored." I think Koeman is excited about him... but Koeman will have to give him a little more freedom. Dowell has what we like to call "Berbatov-syndrome." Elegant, drifts out of games, sometimes VERY lazy... but there is a great player in there. Will he afford him that freedom on the right side of the field where we don't have a recognized RB? Will he see time in the middle? I just hope he is given a fair chance.

Lookman has looked the better player, but Dowell has had the best moments. You also have to take into account that Ade tracks back and made some vital stops in that Twente game when Kenny was WAY out of position. I LOVE BOTH PLAYERS TO DEATH THOUGH OMG
I'd love a team of local lads playing for Everton, fact is Dowell was the one being talked about, yet Davies broke through and I'm not convinced by either.

In terms of a squad, you want to stack as much young talent as possible. At least if they are young, you can justify the limited amount of game time and such. I think Davies and Dowell are good players and Dowell may have his break out season any year now. Use him in the European games where the pressure is off a bit and see if he is worth the hype. Tom at the very least has established himself as a decent squad option.

Davies looked great for maybes 5 games or so and then very so so. Gives up possession so often under no real pressure. He is young though and deserves the benefit of the doubt that he can recapture the form that caused him to become a starter.

Dowell looks a total Rolls Royce of a player. Elegent and drifts past players with optimum ease and that left peg is utterly genius. He undoubtedly has more technical ability than Davies, not the work rate though. Hopefully he is given the chance to show what he can do this season. Certainly looks the real deal.

Speaking of which, remember when Sky did the fan announcing thing? And the Spurs lad was screaming (dribbling, lining up his shot) DIMITAR DIMITAR DIMITAR....(goal goes in)...BEEEEEEEEEERBATOOOOOOOOOOV

Hilarious.

Should be around the squad I think. As someone posted in the youth thread he's very similar to Ozil. Not the best off the ball but hugely talented and makes things happen when he has it. Yes pressing is important but so is creativity. The German national team is big on pressing but can still accommodate Ozil. He doesn't need to be taught how to run and tackle. Others in the team can do that while he creates chances.

Kenny has what it takes but imo he'll cost us points if he's first choice til Coleman is fully fit. Sadly he'll have to be as Martina is gash. Why we never got a steady Eddie loan deal in for the season at RB I'll never know.
