Covered more ground in 5 mins than MaCarthy did the whole game - how does MaCarthy stay on????
Utter pathetic midfielder, no creativity - no energy should have been hooked off at half time IMO!
I know it's a different thread. But I agree about McCarthy. What is really depressing is the thought of that clown keeping his job, and Barry McCarthy and cleverly starting the 1st game of next season

But RM signed him and he is an RM fave, going right back to Wigan days.

I was impressed with his energy and closing down, didn't really get the chance to do much else. I'd like to see him get some more time before the end of the season.
It seemed like a typical debute cameo, lots of running about , closing down but too little time to have an impact. Yes good to have that out of the way for him , he can play his natural game next time and from what I saw today he'll be our best corner taker .

another player that hasnt developed one iota under martinez and hes worked with him for over 5 years now!
Spot on, I don't think Martinez knows how to develop players, other than giving them some confidence and playing time. There appears to be no actual coaching to improve a player.

Funnily enough at the last u21 game his corners were very poor a complete contrast to his open play. I was really pissed off to be honest that he got so little time in this game. Out of all of our remaining fixtures this was surely the one to give him some serious playing time.

How predictible was it that he would give dowell barely any minutes similar to davies.
End of season he will harp on about the youth he has brought through but in reality he is not challenging or progressing them.
In my opinion he has probably already ruined garbutt and stones has not progressed under him u could argue barkley hasent either.
Lets hope it wont be the same for ledson, dowell, davies etc

Everton youngster Kieran Dowell makes his Premier League debut against Bournemouth
Kieran Dowell is in line to make his full Everton debut as caretaker boss David Unsworth takes charge of the game with Norwich City.

Unsworth will be joined by club legend Joe Royle, John Ebbrell and Duncan Ferguson in the dug-out at Goodison on Sunday as the post-Roberto Martinez era gets underway.

Martinez was sacked on Thursday after almost nearly three years as boss but the Catalan recommended that Unsworth take temporary charge of the first-team.

Unsworth has been the under-21s’ boss for two seasons and overseen nine players graduate from the Academy to the first-team.

Dowell made his Premier League bow last month as a late substitute in the win over Bournemouth but is now in contention to start against Norwich this weekend.

Unsworth was keeping his plans close to his chest but told the ECHO:

“I don’t really want to give my team away but we will pick a team we think will win the game.

“It may involve some of the young players.”

“It’s not just one or two there’s probably, in my honest opinion, six or seven of those boys who play for us week in, week out who could play at the highest level,” Unsworth said.

David Unsworth speaks to the team during the Everton training session

“And they are a group that has come through together and we are very, very - I won’t say lucky because there so many people who have done a lot of work with them - but we’re fortunate that we’ve got a group of players who are ready to play in our first-team.

“So whoever gets the job can integrate them into a top team.”

Tom Davies and Callum Connolly, who made their debuts against Southampton in April, trained with the first-team today.

Matthew Pennington, who has started the three matches, is likely to feature against Norwich while Mason Holgate also trained today.
