With my son recently deciding he could read and write we stepped up the bed-time stories and have broken into my Roald Dahl library.

We just finished George's Marvelous Medicine and we are going to start up Charlie and the Chocolate Factory after Chrimbo.

The reason for this, was to remember the great welsh story-teller of Roald Dahl. I loved just about all of what he wrote, even his short stories (the Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and six more).

My absolute fave was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I loved all the kids books. Fantastic. Special mentions go to 'The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me' 'The Twits' 'Fantastic Mr.Fox' ' Danny Champion of the World' 'The Witches'

Sounds a cool book (y)

Read my daughter all the Famous Five's by Enid Blyton, some more by a french guy Claude Voilier and some Just George ones.
Read the lads Just William (about 13 of them) and a series called 'Secret', secret of spiggy holes, secret of killimooin and there are 2 more as well.

they do like their bedtime stories.

Yes, the BFG is the story about the dreams. And saving the world from massive, people eating giants!

Danny the champion of the world has always been my favourite, although at least 6 would be in my top ten. Absolutely amazing teller of a story. I really don't think i'd read half as much as I do today if it wasn't for the great Mr. Dahl.

If you haven't already, make sure you get his auto-biographies, 'Boy' and 'Going Solo' Great reads, giving a real glimpse into his life.

I've got the RD book collection, this morning put it my daughters room, ironic!

What about this gem?
