Don’t mind some of the stuff that he has done. But at the same time, like with Brands, like with Walsh, wasn’t strong enough to enforce his role at the club. Being overruled for players like maupay etc and going along with it.
Do you enforce your position when your boss tells you to do one thing, and despite any protestations, your boss won’t change his mind and overrules you?

We simply do not know what ‘behind the scenes conversations’ took place but given this appeared to reportedly happen whilst Walsh and Brands was here as well, it would appear to me the only way out for him, would have been to possibly resign.

He’s a Liverpool fan, has a season ticket. Just stating facts pal.
Why does that matter? Getting the best person for the job is all that counts regardless of club allegiances. It didn’t matter to them when they had Rush, Fowler etc playing for them.

How many here have had to do something they didn't want because their boss told them?

And how many rather resigned?
It’s ridiculous, people panning him, when his bosses overrule them, like they wouldn’t have that in their jobs and they wouldn’t accept it.

If my boss kept overruling me and leaving me with very little autonomy to do my job or complete my role, I wouldn’t stay around.

My boss has never made me sign maupay to be fair. But if I was regularly being overruled for something I’m being publicly judged on, I wouldn’t stay around. He gets judged on recruitment and the general rhetoric is our recruitments been crap. (Whether you believe that’s down to him or not - which kind of proves my point)

How do you know that's what happened? No-one has said he was left with very little autonomy.

If your boss said you need to go buy this one thing and you think it's the wrong choice would you immediately resign?

How the ducking duck do you know Thelwell was regularly overruled?

Cognitive bias mate. We need to run the club like a business, I can’t imagine hiring Putin for a NATO oversight board, “yeah these chemicals are fine where are they made again Syria? Sound!”.

Are you ducking serious?

Maybe we shouldn't have had Reid or Watson either?

If you are clearing house as a new ownership then you need to get a manager and DOF that will work together. It will likely be the only chance to do so. Once the big contracts and such start getting handed out it will be harder to remove them. Get it right from the start.

Why not? Moyes has always been terrible at signing forwards.

The only really good one he signed in 11 and a half years with us was Yakubu. Saha was okay. It has always been his Achillies' heel. I would say that it is VERY likely that Moyes would have signed Scamacca based on his previous record with strikers.

That's probably true. Johnson was ok too.

He just doesn't seem to be the sort of guy he would go for though. Did he ever really spend big on a foreign striker here and then not play them?

It's subjective but I just don't think that Scammaca wasn't his signing.
