The timing of this is curious, it comes as Arsenal are about to appoint a new sporting director.

The names on their shortlist are: Dan Ashworth, Andrea Berta, Roberto Olabe and Thiago Scuro.

I wonder has a decision been made there and now some of the names above are "available" for other clubs.
Can't imagine Moyes is going to want to be answering questions in the his presser about it,bit awkward.

Can anyone tell me what David Weir has done at Brighton that stands out? Spent 200m net in the summer and I wouldn’t say they’ve improved.

I think he took the role on a few years back, has sold players for a lot of money and has improved Brighton while doing so. Their record is probably the best in the future league, and he has been a central part of it.

I really hope it isn't going to be given to Moyes, but I suspect it will be. Moyes doesn't like DoFs, he likes to be in charge. It was my biggest reservation about him coming back, so am really worried by that notion.
Doesn't worry me in the slightest.

Moyes is great at spotting potential in a player.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Moyes actually becomes DoF at some point in the future, quite possibly within the term of his present contract

….wouldn’t be surprised if people are putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with names like Weir. I agree that it could be somebody totally different although I do think Moyes’ opinion has lots to do with Thelwell’s departure.

Don't Brighton have 400 people in an office in London researching analytics to identify their signings? Always wondered what Weir's role was at Brighton tbh. But I believe he's highly thought of in the game. Hopefully the new owners know what they're doing unlike the last one.

Thought and think i said on here in Jan his position was untenable after Moyes came in and mothballed all Thelwells plans like Nuamah.

Changed my mind when he did that surprising interview after the window - which now seems a bit mad that he did it.
