Easily my all time favourite player in my era of watching Everton. I remember having a picture of him signed with the championship trophy it was my pride and joy. I spent hours in my back garden pretending to take free kicks like him however I spent most of my time going next door asking for my ball back :-)

I was fortunate enough to have a cup of tea with him at Finch Farm a few years back and he took his time telling me stories of things that happened during his time at Everton, I couldn't believe it. The best thing he said though was I was very lucky to be with such a great bunch of lads in the 80s from the manager to the coach but the best thing was I didn't have to do much just take free kicks etc, he then said I didn't have to take but I got a lot of stick from our fans for it sometimes but when you have Pat Van Den Hauwe behind you I didn't have to tackle.

True legend and I for one was emotional and very very happy when he had a successful battle against the illness he had. True legend of our Club, what a statue that would be pointing towards Anfield.....Sheedy flicking the V across the park!

I forget what game it was but remember Kendall saying to Sheedy, get warmed up you are going on.
Sheedy got of the bench, touched his toes, stretched the turned to Kendall and said I am ready

Class player who could turn games with one ball

I remember him scoring 2 goals in the 5-0 thrashing we gave Man U at Goodison, the first with an uncharacteristic header which I missed s I was still queuing outside.
If you watch the accompanying clip Sheeds takes a bad head knock in the process of scoring the first, he just picks himself up and gets on with it. Can you imagine today's players doing that?

I was down with a busload of Celtic lads that day as they didn't have a game that weekend, they were well impressed.

Look at the way our players crowd round him as well. Uniteds player was ignored by everyone including his own players.
It wasn't just the talent of that team it was the comradeship they obviously had, they would take a bullet for each other (see Psycho running half the length of the pitch to chin a QPR player giving one of our lads grief).

To continue our look at great Everton players of days gone by to diffuse and distract from the lack of managerial action, following on from Big's Nev and Joe, I though this weekend we could look at one of the best left footers ever.

Signing from the other lot, he became pivotal in the greatest side I've ever seen in the flesh. We are all aware of the disallowed free kick which he promptly retook and slotted in the opposite corner.

He has overcome ill health and still does a smashing job at the club to this day with the youth. Hopefully he'll be a familiar face around the club for years to come, and if not (slams fist on table) why not?!?!

Kevin Sheedy, we salute you......
Ive got his shirt from the 85 cup winners cup final . Framed, but not signed.

All the great things Sheeds did for us and the funniest thing that sticks in my mind about him was a baltic day at Oldham, the players came out to do their "warm up"(ha halol)about five minutes in Sheeds ambles out and is right in front of all the blues, tries two half arsed attempts at touching his toes, turns around and jogs back to the changieslol
He was like that , one lazy mo fo , but is football intelligence was second to none . Was on a different wavelength to other players . Had a very dry sense of humour
