Well we all know we need dependable squad players as well as 1st teamers. If he was happy not to be 1st choice i think he would make a good back-up who could fill in for cahill during his inevitable injury layoffs!!

And that's a very good point.

We all know we need depth but we also know that there's a line between a top player that could really help, and a player like Nolan or Smith that could also help but wouldn't be starting eleven material.

Then there's the cost differences between those two general types of players.

So I understand when people say "no thanks" to Kevin Nolan or Alan Smith but in today's transfer market, those are probably the types of players that we could stand to look at within our budget.

People would say, and rightly so I might add, that we need better. But "better" costs us more.

So it's up to Moyes to find those players who are right on the edge, who are better but don't cost us what "better" is going for in today's market.

That whole dilemma could be a thread starter on it's own.

I go to a fish shop (hobby type) in Bolton and over the lasdt two seasons have not heard one Bolton fan praise him, most call him a scouse [Poor language removed]:(

I don't rate Nolan that highly. He had one really good season a few years back but since has been average at best. Even most Bolton fans don't like him so god knows how he would fit into our team.
