Kevin Mirallas

I do enjoy clicking on the "show ignored content" button once in a while, just to see the usual suspects peddling their special "look at me, look at me" brand of throbbing idiocy.

Mirallas has looked pretty good in both outings this season, and I think he will get far more starts under Koeman than he ever did under Martinez. He looks natural on the left and I think that Koeman's repeated references to Bolasie being a striker (during the presser) are indicative that Kev is going to be our LW for at least the next season.

I was one of the first to brand Kev as stupid last year when he wasted the chances he was given in the team, but also never doubted his quality.

He's a class act on his day but is a player that needs the team to be geared for him in a way, and i think the high-press really suits him. Loved how he was pressurizing West Brom's defence yesterday.

This tripe that he isn't a hard worker is blatantly wrong. I think the question about Kev is his motivation and consistency.

Don't think I've seen one other person blame Mirallas for the first goal we conceded against WBA.

He was on the line but it wasn't like McAuley was his man. He was just there as extra cover on the post. McAuley came in at such an angle and height that nobody would have stopped it.

In short, not Kev's fault.

More a lack of general organisation, Stekelenburg flapping a bit and Jagielka losing his marker. It'll be sorted sharpish I think.

He is what he is. Sometimes very good and other times invisible. He didn't cost much and is fine as a squad option.

If he is more consistent he will deserve to be starting every week.

I've no idea if he had issues with Moyes or with other players as Dave is saying...that is just speculation...although it seems clear he did with Martínez.

However we need proper dependable quality to run our attack behind Rom and Kev, Deulo and Ross don't give you that....at least not yet in the cases of the latter two. Bolasie seems just as inconsistent.

It amazes me the slack that feller gets cut. A history of acting like a complete tool in a blue shirt and he's forgiven after scoring a goal (after having failed to clear a ball on the backpost to concede one, btw).

The pertinent thing though is that only consistency will save him under Koeman's tenure here...and he has zero ability to knuckle down and put it in week and week out without making a spectacular show of himself.

Thing is, Dave...

You know we're vaulting this against the possibility he grows up and becomes the footballer he can be. To me, he's just prone to staggering bouts of immaturity, which leads to inconsistency. Should he get over it and grow up, he can be the kind of player a club with increasing ambitions has to have to provide real depth. If not, he'll be gone.

Probably not ye gimp, considering Fabregas played in La Liga when this game happened

You'd know that if you knew ANYTHING about the game pal

"
The coach saw directly that things were not good and changed and after that we played well,” Mirallas said.

“He proved how good he is, because he saw directly that the team had a problem because there were too many people in the middle and they had a lot of space on the left and right.

“When you are a player and you see that, then you are happy. You can see clearly that the coach has the solutions to win a game.”
Are you reading this Bobby? lol

No rifts between him and Moyes or the other players.

The rift developed between him and Martinez. In hindsight perhaps it wasn't all the players' doing either.

Looks like he could be getting back to his initial form when he first arrived. He needs games and he needs to have the confidence of the manager

Koeman likes him I think mate, and Kev will thrive with that.

The pressing game suits him down to the ground. He's lost a yard of that rapid pace he had when he first arrived but in terms of getting a goal like he got the other day, I don't think we have another player in the squad who could make that run and apply that finish.

Mirallas is a very good player. His talent is obvious. He just needs to add a bit of consistency to his game and he will score 10-15 goals a season easily.
