Kevin Mirallas

I don't doubt his talent as those statistics prove, just question his work ethic. Doesn't fight for the team which worries me. Saw Davies was the polar opposite, couldn't work harder and battle harder and I just feel Barkley should be doing more, especailly since Barkley's built big now too.

Yeh agree to an extent.

I think the thing with Barks is he's a pure confidence player.

Some players can still do all the things they normally do without been confident. I don't think Barks is there yet.

Could tell he was really trying hard yesterday and putting a lot of effort in.

So why wasn't he doing that previously regardless of it he liked the manager or not?

That's my issue right there, a few others too.

I hated my previous job and boss, so I turned up and went through the motions, did the bare minimum. I now have a job I don't mind, and work for a manager that I get along with and that treats me as an equal to my colleagues. He doesn't favour someone like Tom Cleverley over me for no reason, as a result I work harder and more enthusiastically than I did in my previous job

He was sandbagging cheeks, rightly or wrongly. Can't blame him TOO much when the likes of Kone and Clev are getting starts ahead of him. Anyway I'm not sure running around is allowed under Bobby's philosophy and if it is he sure as hell didn't demand it.

I think if he played under a manager that coached fitness, he'd be able to play a full 90. Under our former manager, no players looked like they could last a full match apart from the goalkeeper
Don't disagree with you there mate. I'm not saying Del could never go a full 90, just that this past season he couldn't. Would be great to give Del all the minutes he needs, and hopefully a new manager can do that.

You wasn't getting paid tens of thousands of pounds a week I presume mate (if so well in) and in a privileged position like Kevin Mirallas performing in front of thirty odd thousand paying admirers.

Effort is the very least that should be acceptable. He wasn't even doing that as highlighted by the stark contrast yesterday when he was trying.

This and the fact that he plays for himself and no one else.

Footballers aren't like us. They've been contracted to football clubs ever since they left school, they don't know any different. To them, it is just an ordinary job like yours or mine. Think what I'm trying to say is, it must be hard to motivate yourself when you can see the person instructing you is quite clearly a clown that doesn't know what he's doing, regardless of the job itself

I've got a couple of family who are or were professional footballers mate. They know the score when it comes to the fan ezpectsions. I do however think you raise a good point the bubble around them at present.

Sigh.

Is it time to point out once again that Kev is second only to Baines in the "Total assists over the last four seasons" category? And that Baines has played over a THOUSAND more minutes than Mirallas in that period?

It is a myth to suggest that Mirallas is not a team player.

Punched the air when he scored, loves a goal does Kev. Then he calmly went over to JJk to say thanks for the assist give him hug. "Only init for himself doh lad".

Yip.

And if he had done that, maybe he would be going to France with Belgium.

Lid needs to look at himself, start performing consistently for his club and set his sights on the USSR in 2018.

Either a myth or an optical illusion.

Because I don't often see a team player when Kev is on the ball.

Just because he doesn't defer to other players doesn't mean he isn't a team player. There are a few other players in the squad who could stand to be a bit more direct.

Happen.

But nine times out of ten when Mirallas picks up the ball wide on the left he gets the head down, cuts inside and shoots from distance often from unlikely angles, when there are better options on.

He needs to get that head up and play for the team more.
