Kevin Mirallas

Here's where context is crucial. Barry set out early on to harass and null Chelsea's main threats at the expense of his own freedom to play. Went a huge way to winning us that game and was sent off when it no longer mattered. Mirallas..
Hmmmm. Isn't harassing and nullifying the opponent's attacking threats the main part of a DM's job? What "freedom to play" is being curtailed here? And furthermore, if it's part of a DM's job to negate the opponent's attacking threat, isn't it vital that he can do that WITHOUT getting sent off?

I'm not trying to berate Barry here - he's been excellent this season. I'm just saying that it is hypocritical to slate one player for getting sent off but then claim that another player doing the same thing is ok because he plays a different position.

Hugely overrated by Evertonians. Obviously the case when it seemed nobody else was prepared to buy him when his contract was running out so he had no option to sign a new one with us. Since then he has shown nothing other than he is a player not to be relied on.

Well actually it is okay.

A player like Barry will always pick up yellow cards because his job is to make his presence felt in the middle of the park. Compare that to Mirallas, an attacking winger who picks up yellow cards for blatant dives and needless challenges, there is no comparison to be drawn.

You tell me pal.

Kone: 1638 minutes played: 7 goals, 3 assists.
Mirallas: 912 minutes played: 4 goals, 3 assists.

Kone's really proved his worth in those extra 726 minutes, hasn't he. :coffee:

3 goals in 8 extra games isn't bad.

Surely Kev's 2 sendings off negate some of his good work. There can be no dispute he cost us 3 points last week. Rom missed his pen, Robertos dodgy subs but Mirallas's red was the deciding factor. If we'd kept 11 on, we win.

You left out some stats so I added them for you.

Just as an indication as to how valuable stats are, first time I read these kind of stats they had David Unsworth as one of the best passers of a ball in the country. Basically every time that, against the odds, Big Dunc managed to get a body part onto one of the aimless balls Unsworth lumped forward it was officially pass completion.

We look more balanced with Clevs than Kev... there, I said it.

Kev will still play a part this season I'm sure but he has never hit the consistency in the last year or so to be a guaranteed starter.
