Further exploration? Is that code for waiting until swelling goes away and scanning again? Hopefully nothing needs reattaching.

Your hamstring is part of your thigh ffs. The two main muscle groups there are the quadriceps and the hamstrings and from the way he pulled up mid sprint it was a hamstring pull or tear.

BOSS ON MIRALLAS: "We had a few scans and we are going to carry on today. It isn't a straightforward diagnosis but the signs are not great."

What I don't get is how many professional footballers get hamstring injuries. I can understand when they pull up so early in the game cause obviously they haven't warmed up properly. But Kev's was a good time in. Surely they can build them up more in training!?

Of course. But as with any injury it comes from excessive strains and forces being placed on the body. That's why you see hamstrings often ping while sprinting as they are experiencing such powerful loads and forces. Injuries can happen at any time really, no matter how much work you put in to injury prevention, you can't cut them out completely. All you can do is strengthen and restrengthen the muscles in order to reduce recurrence of injuries and hopefully prevent the cascade to injury proneness and overall loss of function.

It happens in American football too. Sometimes when you push the body to certain limits, parts break down no matter what the preparation. It is likely a mixture of bad luck and genetics for poor Kev.
