Kevin Mirallas

He definitely looked better as a wide forward in a 3 man front instead of in midfield. It's a subtle difference but Naismith's movement in front of him opened up a lot of the middle of the pitch and he wasn't just confined to the wing.

He definitely needs to become more consistent.

Any word on why he didn't play? I saw him warming up at one point, and it did seem like we could have used his pace on the break for the last 10 or so (maybe on for Naismith?)

Obviously Martinez put out a good enough team to take all 3 points, which is what's important, just seems harsh to drop Kevin after such a great performance against Arsenal. I guess it's good that we have these types of selection issues, and hopefully he was just rested because we didn't need him today and to keep him fresh for crystal palace.

Rotation maybe. We have 3 matches in a week.

I'm guessing to be fresh for the Palace match.

Didnt see this great performance against Arsenal that everybodys mentioning. Though he was decent and had improved though, which is what Bobby will probably continue to do with him. Had thought we could sell for a decent amount and a good replacement but happy that Bobby seems to work hard on improving each individual and patience and attention to detaik coukd be the key with Kev.

Dont get why people are always so confused when he doesnt start. He is one of several decent options who each offer something, and this seasons he has rarely looked good enough to be a first choice. Glad we have the options to bench him sometimes really.

He was warming up when we were still nil-nil because he's capable of changing a game and making a goal from nothing. Then after we scored Bobby went for McGeady instead who is better at retaining possession than Mirallas and Deulofeu in my opinion.

Good point, personally I like Kevin when other teams are chasing a goal because he's so effective on the break (especially on corners), but you're right that McGeady is better at retaining possession, which is really what we needed. Still thought he would have offered a little more on the break than Lukaku (with Naismith playing through the center) but I'm certainly not going to question the tactics of the man who just tied our Premier League wins record :)

After Palace scored their third, Howard and others were standing around like spare parts. It was Mirallas who picked the ball out of the goal and ran with it to the centre spot. There have been times when his attitude has been questioned but this guy seems to hate losing. It was the same last year in the cup against Wigan, his head never dropped. Seen it against the sh^te too.

Well in Kev. Shame you couldn't score two, but full marks for standing up and being counted.

His attitude can't be questioned, not once have I ever seen his head drop or him hide away from the ball.

It's just a shame he hasn't kicked on like I thought he would this year. Still a very good player and probably one of my favourites at the club.
