Keeper necessity

Can't see any CL player coming here unless he's not a guaranteed starter at his club.

While i do agree, and i think Leno is a massive long shot. Unfortunately there is a lot to be said for the premier league and money on offer here. Sure he has shown an interest in playing in the prem too. Have to try to see what he says.

Butland for 30m? Or Mandanda for free and Mata for 30m?

I'm not sold on either Butland or Mata so not sure how to answer that one :)

At a push, I would spend £30M on a keeper, the best we could find. Apart from the very rare "guaranteed goals" strikers, its the one position that can have a tangible impact in gaining points.

I don't want to be overly critical of Robles, but his performance vs Sunderland makes me shudder, this and a departed Howard are the level we have to replace.

We could probably get Leno for less than £30M but would face stiff competition and have a job in convincing him to join.

‘Perhaps you sometimes have dreams of playing abroad, I find that very sexy,’ Leno told Sport1.

‘What happens at the end is not known – but dreaming, I am always dreaming.’

Mandanada is a quality player. However I would be disappointed if we chose him over any of the Germans you mention. I would be happy with him, but we can do better.

Some of the stuff being spouted in this thread is proper FM talk with no substance.

The idea that Mandanda is miles behind Lloris is just made up tosh, there was quite a big debate in France pre Euros as to whether Mandanda was actually better than Lloris now and deserved to be their #1. Opinions were pretty much that Mandanda had outperformed Lloris this season but with Lloris being French captain was generally felt that it was too big an upheaval for a small upgrade.

Some actual sources for you instead of made up comments based on Squawka stats etc:

Mandanda is a top quality goalkeeper, if he was under contract he'd cost upwards of £10m and just because he's not a fashionable German doesn't mean he wouldn't be a brilliant addition. More than anything he's widely thought of as one of the best keepers in terms of distribution in the world, something we've been crying out for for years. The idea that we shouldn't be looking at 'value' and cheap signings because we're now loaded is completely ridiculous. Sure he's not going to cost as much as Leno who's also a brilliant keeper, but that shouldn't be a slight on him.

Can't wait to be vaulted when he lets in 6 against Swansea but for now want to attempt to set the record straight.

I'd love us to go in for Horn or Leno, but for a free transfer Mandanda would be a good signing and wouldn't be on huge wages.

If it didn't work out we can always sell him and make a profit.

I'd much rather take a risk at £0m and spend the budget elsewhere than spend £25m and it turn out to be a mistake.

Still, Steve Mandanda did everything to reverse the hierarchy, at least at the level of its performance. Best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 this season without possible challenges, he carried OM on certain matches. Above all, his leadership has made everyone agree. Recently, it's Mauricio Isla , a former Juve in particular, which had highlighted the XXL performance of his captain: " Throughout my career, I played with big guards, like Buffon and Bravo. Steve is among the best. He saved us several times . "
