Confirmed Signing Josh King

Now you interpret what I write in the worst possible way.

You do not think he is good enough as a back-up, or worth the expense. That's perfectly fair. I disagree, and I think he can even compete with Iwobi and Richarlison for a place on the team.

If the club has identified a younger player who has many of the same skills as King, who is cheaper or the same price, and who can adapt to the PL level right away, then that's great.

My starting point is that we are vulnerable offensively, and the alternatives are not good. To finish in the top 6, which we now have the opportunity to do, we need offensive reinforcement. If there are better options than King, then great, but I think King is definitely an option.
My feeling is signing King and doing nothing are both not good enough so I don't see the point. If come summer we still think Josh King is a good signing, and I pray we do not, then whatever do it then.

King would be cover. The attacking lineup is set in stone for the most part (apart from the 3rd midfielder or final wing depending on which way you look at it). But something tells me that they will persist with Iwobi in the starting lineup for better or worse and he will be that guy for now. He has been better to be fair.

If we bring in King, that tells me we aren’t looking for a starter in attack and may pursue the RB position instead.

The main issue with King is there is zero real appeal for him ;-( His your average journey man footballer that all teams need in reality, but with 6 months on his contract, why bother than offering them a million or two at most? You can get for free in 4 months afterwards if his really needed! Same with his wages, people are saying throw him 70,000 to 100,000 to sign as a "back up" player ;-( Same people then complain Gordon isn't getting minutes too so financially and for our academy lad is he worth the hassle? Put a list of positives and negatives on a sheet of paper and the majority are negative about him and positives are just his premier league experience with a team relegated last year when he was involved in majority of their games !

Depay is completely unrealistic. He's on his way to Barcelona. Draxler has a high salary, has shown very little in recent years, and is one of the most hyped players of all time. He is more of an offensive midfielder, and not a striker.
Theyre both forwards, have played across the front line and are of a way higher quality than King. And i agree, Draxler is super overhyped and over paid - thats why i noted not really wanting him or Memphis ‘bad attitude’ Depay either. Point was, there are way better quality out there. If we are to push for CL, we need better backup to James Rodriguez than Josh King. The quality dropoff is incredible there. I know we wont be able to get a backup of a similar stature to James, but we dont need to downgrade in this extreme manner either.
There are plenty of fish in the sea, and a lot of them are better than Josh King.
