I think we've got to be pragmatic about this...

If King comes in for buttons, on a short term deal as cover for Calvert-Lewin then why not? He had a very decent record at Bournemouth in the Prem.

Out of context his stats are bad but looking deeper, he’s only played the full 90 in the league once since November, that was on Friday at Reading, he’s also had a 9 game run where he was unused for one game then injured for the other 8

Think Carlo has wanted this lad all along , just that the club were'nt willing to pay silly money on a player coming to the end of his contract.
Maybe not the player some wanted us to sign , but no club are going to part with a Really Top striker in the middle of the season.
Covers all the front positions and he's a big upgrade on Tosun.
If the wages/ deal is suitable think he will be in today.

We need cover. He covers all 3 front positions. Even if it's a 2.5 year deal, thats fine.

Whenever I saw him at Bournemouth, he looked as good as Callum Wilson who showed his worth on Saturday.

I tweeted at the time I thought he'd be an excellent signing for Newcastle.

Not sure I'd say we missed the boat with him, for the fee they paid he'd have been sat on our bench/behind DCL.
