Right at this moment in time I am concerned about our lack of back up across the front 3, not just for DCL. It's the quality of backup I'm concerned about, not the numbers.

If DCL ws injured then first choice for up top would be Richarlison. But that means we lose quality from the left. We have nobody of that quality to play on the right should James be injured or if we wanted to play him a bit more withdrawn. There's a big drop in quality to Iwobi, and I think Bernard is better in the middle. He could play on the left but we would lose the goal threat.

Longer term we need that extra person of quality up there, somebody like Sarr. But failing that I'd be happy if we brought in somebody like King as cover as at least he offers more of a goal threat than our existing back up. However not at the wage demands that are being touted around. He'll be on about £40k pw at Bournemouth, and I wouldn't want to pay much more than that for a backup given that he'll be little more than a squad player once we bring in another quality forward next season (hopefully).

Sarr, if he has the right character and profile for Carlo, is what I would want. King would just become another expensive deadweight.
I think adding players who will bring different threats to an already potent attack would be most welcome. Ideally players who can improve and grow in the role too.

As well as Simms, Tocsun will be available till January ( he’s back in training I hear).
Sometimes we’ve got to take a punt on the youth if we really believe in them. If we buy King, then Simms has no future With us.
I think were backing youth.
King would be better off at West Ham where he will get a game. Why come here to be an expensive reserve at his age?

If you're right we need to see Simms on the bench this weekend. Assuming we have a full team out, I expect the bench to be

Olsen. Godfrey, either Davies/Delph, Sigurdsson, Iwobi, Bernard, Gordon.

If Simms were included, who would drop out?

I agree mate. You have to face the possibility that we may not have the finances at the moment though. If we could get a loan to buy, at a price that would interest Watford, hat would be our best chance. But the lack of rumours suggest that isnlt happening. Window closes this time tomorrow.

King, at the right price in fee and wages, would add a back up goal threat that we currently don't have.

That is what worries me.
 

Imo king is the exact opposite of the type of business we should he doing.

Bournemouth want £18m for him and he's on around £90k a week and won't be taking a pay cut. He's also 29 in 3 months and had a terrible season last season.

All that for a at best old avarage squad player. After one season he'd be another bolasie or sigurdsson, just a squad player who's hanging around while we wait for his contract to run out so we can free up his wages.
