My point is he hasn't revolutionised the game (Like Wenger or Guardiola) or hasn't built a dynasty (Like Ferguson) to prove himself above a 'C' grade. He hasn't achieved success without outspending his rivals - Porto spent more than anyone in Portugal - and their run to the final was incredibly lucky, the only decent side they played were Real Madrid in the group stages and Madrid demolished them.

I agree with the first part . My point on Porto was he hadn’t spent more money than the other champions league teams as for being lucky you can go through pretty much every teams run to a cup trophy and dissect it for luck . They also beat united because I remember the run down the touch line and they were I think premier league champions.

Last minute goal against united which I think Carroll bundled, very lucky.

Yeah but last year didn’t ronaldo score a last min pen against Juve to qualify ? Obviously don’t get me started on the RS , United won it in 99 with two goals in added time then terry stumbled in the shoot out whatever year that was or the year Chelsea beat Bayern didn’t Bayern batter them ? All I mean is you just can’t cherry pick that somebody was lucky to win a cup , most teams who win a cup have a moment .

I remember that United were in freefall at that point of the season, they lost 4-1 to a Kevin Keegan Manchester City side within the same week.
