Jose Baxter: No Regrets

So basically Stubbs could've been responsible for getting us knocked out of the FA Cup last season when Baxter hit the post for Oldham? And would he have loved scoring against us? Course he effing would have. He's a tit who didn't even like Everton. The sooner an actual blue comes through the ranks to get Baxter off the youngest player records the better

Will you stop beating around the bush and just come out with what you really mean!

I will always think that Jose was the biggest victim of David Moyes reluctance to play youth.

i reckon he would have been amazing for us but for probalby a number of different reasons off the field Baxter never forced the issue the same way Rooney did. Not even barkely was given a fair crack at the team until Moyes left.

I am just praying that roberto brings the next version of rooney/baxter/barkely though in due time and we arent looking at lads like jose and wondering what might of been.

By the city appearance in his last season with us, you could tell he had regressed at that point but with no support how can you expect to develop?

What Jose fails to mention in that article is that once he turned 18 he was out every other weekend. He was part of that wannabe WAG/Newz type crowd a few years back.

This is the same player who got pulled in a car with fake money and drugs, the same Jose Baxter who took a picture of his c*ck and accidently uploaded it on twitter

Yep, to be fair to Moyes it was practically impossible for him to elevate Baxter to the first team properly because of those issues. However, let's be totally honest about it, he wouldn't have been developed properly regardless.

Good to hear he has no regrets about leaving. Young player who seems to have sorted his head out and focusing on his football at a decent level. Wouldn't shock me to see him one day back in the prem with a promoted club.

What I don't understand is that if he was supposed to be a world beater, then surely all that ability couldn't just vanish?

Yup, always in Passion.

It's all in the mind. You can have all the ability in the world but if you don't have the mindset to apply it or you lose focus then that's that.

Look at Francis Jeffers. He was in the right environment at Everton, but as soon as he left he lost his support network and that was it for him.

This cannot be stated enough. There is very little that seperates professional footballers.

Callum Mcmanaman is a very interesting point made earlier in this thread. He looked a world beater in the FA Cup final last season, touted as a future England star. He isn't a regular starter at Wigan this season.

Confidence and faith in ones ability comes from within, but in a collective it requires the right character to truely make it flourish.

In past seasons we have always had a recognisable first 11. I believe now that we have 17-18 players who fall into that catagory. Players that are trusted and fully understand what is required.

Not only Jose, I wonder what sort of player Jeffers would have been under Martinez.

It wasn't Moyes' fault Baxter didn't progress; he just wasn't very good and had a bad attitude. He's found his level at League 1, maybe he'll do alright in the Championship.

Funny how perceptions can change towards people, not so long ago he was a 'bit of a nkob', 'up his own arse' and a 'druggie'! People slating him as a big time charlie and wont get far but if you actually listen to things about the lad, for me he seems a good kid and all the best to him cos not many players his age take the route he as, they take the deal at the big club there at and sit on it and never make summat of themselves.

Good on ya Jose!.
