Losing marks on corners, not winning headers, and getting turned inside out 1v1 defending comes from the keeper? Sorry but Pickford is the last thing wrong with our defensive problems. It’s the mess in front of him.

What has always been true is Pickford has always conceded goals wherever he has been. A weak keeper saps the confidence of the entire defense. Makes them ineffective and makes them second guess each other.
But as long as he is the last one replaced, Everton fans will always wonder why the fates are against them.
Moyes brought Howard and at that time you had a good defensive organisation.
Same is the thing with Liverpool. Once we get a confident keeper, our entire system will become rock solid.

As a goalkeeper I can certainly agree that Pickford has the potential to be the next Shilton.

I also know from bitter experience that when you have no faith in the defenders in front of you that every shot feels like it is one on one. Sometimes you just have to accept making mistakes due to lumbering idiots (defenders) getting in your way.

It's not really the same though as we have many issues, and our goalkeeper isn't one of them. Liverpool have fewer issues, but a weak defence (excluding Van Dijk) and a poor goalkeeper are at the heart of that.

Pickford has been excellent this season but like any young player, especially in the position he plays in has made a few mistakes. Would make far less with a good defence in front of him.
