2025/26 Jordan Pickford

Really? I thought it meant that if Pickford was injured/unavailable England shouldn’t play with a keeper at all which would put all this concerted media anti Pickford conspiracy in the bin for good.
You're nearly right, but not quite. What it's actually saying is JP should remain England's number 1, BUT should it go to penalties in any major tournament, then he should attempt to save all shots using only his head.

I can see how you're confused.

It's imperative that the club secures Pickles' future past 2027. Hopefully before January he'll have put pen to paper on a deal that keeps him at the club until 2030. I have no doubt he wants to stay, but also no doubt that many other clubs would love to try their hand with a low-ish bid if he enters the final 12 months of his current contract.

Just checking this is the Southall that has collected the most silverware of any Everton player ever?

Imho until Pickford wins something he isn't even in the same postcode.
Whatever their respective talent was/is, Southall had the advantage of playing in a great team. Pickford has not had that.
So, IMO, in terms of ability he could be "in the same postcode", as you put it.
No way of proving it, of course.

Look, Pickford is a great keeper. He has been our best player for years.
He is not liked by most pundits and the media, but that often happens in England, they get their teeth into a player and that is it. Others become media darlings. Though, recently, one or two "experts" and hacks have mellowed towards him and that is due to the undeniable stats he has amassed, especially for England.
Regarding other fans slagging him, well, it is all tribal. Fans of all other clubs would change their tune if he played for them. He would suddenly become excellent, the best keeper in the Prem, etc, etc, etc.

As a former goalkeeper and someone who pays close attention to how they go about their business, I would have to disagree.

Jordan has one advantage in how he distributes the ball - although Southall was one of the better keepers in that era, so the difference is not as great as it might have been to some of his contemporaries. For everything else Southall was better and in terms of commanding his box and dominating the air, Nev was miles ahead. Some of the problems we've had as a club is because Pickford cannot do that side of the job and that invites pressure, which can lead to chances/goals.

I wouldn't class the 1995 team great, workmanlike would be a better description. That's what Pickford has to show, drag an ordinary team to the later stages of a cup and more by being the difference. Southall did that at near 37 years old, and that is 40 something equivalent in the modern day game.

We are lucky to have Pickford don't get me wrong, comparisons against Southall are just silly at this stage.

This is a great point and one younger blues are now seeing with the likes of Grealish inspiring young lads to become wingers. It’s been a very long time since we had an idol that inspires the young generation to want to play a specific role.
