No doubt he’s absolutely boss but he should never be free from criticism when it’s warranted.

It was a very decent cross. that Pickford badly misjudged, if he should have come or not, is and will always have different people saying different things. He does not come and it ends in the net and people would moan, but he came and messed it up badly and it ends in the net and rightly people have a little moan

There aren't too many players in our recent history with more credit in the bank than Pickford.
That being said, objectively he cost us a point tonight, but equally he won us 2 points the other week.
It's frustrating, but I'd feel like an idiot being too critical given how good he's been for the last 5 years or so.

And this is what I don’t get. What the [Poor language removed] are you expecting from your keeper? Absolute perfection else he’s a liability? Pickford’s obviously earned us many more points than he’s cost us. What else are you after? A faultless, peerless, titan between the sticks? No weaknesses? No errors?
We’re not letting him off today. Everyone knows it’s on him. He will. But we are saying that any noises to the effect of “yeah, I knew he wasn’t good enough and here’s proof, HAHA!” or “this is the kind of thing that stops him being a top keeper” or “his achievements are just normal for keepers” (when they’re bloody not!) are bananas. He is a top keeper. But even top keepers make mistakes. Donnarumma flapped at WHU this evening for their goal.
All keepers have their faults, but Pickford’s critics seem to be holding him up to an impossible standard. And when he fails to hit it, crowing about how insightful they are.
EDIT: And also, your comment about him having done it plenty of times ignores all context. He’s been so much better in the last few years than he was before that. Errors dropping off a cliff. Concentration and judgement really good. Today’s error is not the continuation of a pattern of mistakes. It’s a much improved keeper making an occasional error. Perfectly normal for the position. And yes, for a top keeper.

What on earth. You're basically agreeing with everything I said, but you're ranting at me for saying it. Of course everyone makes mistakes and keepers are highlighted more than others. All I'm saying and have said it before is the best keepers get the basics right most of the time and this is what let's him down. He gets the basics wrong quite often.

In fact, to suggest Pickford gets the basics wrong often is one of the most ludicrous statements I’ve seen here for a long time. He obviously, clearly, does not.
Absolutely love him and he had some great saves even today but I thought he was fault for the first goal today it happens
