I'm no student of players' contracts like some on here, but it seems to me that any player showing any talent or promise, whether 1st team or a youngster, has a contract which expires in about 20 minutes, while all the highly paid dross have contracts expiring sometime after their 65th birthdays. Dunno who has been in charge of all this, but they haven't been doing a right good job.
I think the chairman handles the contracts, he was recently praised by his counterpart at Rangers FC for the way he handled thePatterson deal and was praised for the way he got Dele here from Spurs.

Said it before, should give him a new contract. Not as first choice right back but as our back up option. Coleman will be gone soon, we’ll need to sign a back up right back to Paterson. Kenny is an acceptable and reasonably cheap option.

…..but Coleman won’t be going anywhere for the next 2 seasons and he’s far superior to Kenny. Kenny isn’t good enough, we’ve had enough of expensive deadwood at the club.

I’m always wary of players whose form picks up when contract is running down, Kenny was very poor for Celtic and nobody has tried to sign him since.

Coleman’s contract’s out at the end of next season so one more full season. We don’t want to be spending money and expensive wages on a back up right back squad player. Kenny wouldn’t be deadwood, he would just be backup to our first choice right back and would be pretty inexpensive, no transfer or signing on fee and low weekly wages. Wouldn’t rock the boat if he doesn’t play many games either.

Sign him and save money for other areas of the squad.

2 years 30k p/w
Probably get better offer elsewhere though so likely off
Yes I’m sure he would be better off financially if he left Everton but I’m equally sure if he gets offered a new contract by Everton, as long as it’s decent, Jonjoe will sign for the Blues, that will be two genuine Micky Mouse Blue Boys in the team and the more we have players with affinity to the club the better we will be, had enough of half hearted foreigners.

I don’t think Jonjoe’s wages are top notch Eggs and he cost nothing in transfer fees, as for Seamus, love him, but do you think he has got another two years in him at first team level?

….I certainly think Coleman has at least another season used sparingly with Patterson.

Kenny is very ordinary, we’ve bought a progressive young full back with talent and pace and the timing of the transition to him from Coleman is ideal. We’re not learning lessons if we give players who aren’t good enough new contracts.

Poor players have runs of good form in their careers and great players have poor runs of form.

Kenny falls into the a poor player having a little bit of good form.
Not sure if he is poor, maybe average but yesterday he was good.

Iwobi too; poor player yesterday he was good, same with Holgate and Keane.

Going to be interesting to see if they maintain their form in the next two or three matches.
