….it was the momentum that was lost when he got possession. We had corners, attacks and free kicks that dropped to him on the half-way line as the deepest defender & he invariably passed the ball back to Pickford. Safe when we didn’t need safe, no innovation when we needed innovation, no risk when we needed risk.

He was on the pitch but he wasn’t effective. We need much more than that from players if we’re going to win games.
