Jonjoe Kenny

You think getting rid of a Championship level 25 years old player as short sighted. He is not good enough and will never be. No point of keeping because he is a local lad.
Never said anything about him being a local lad. He's a free option for a squad player that will probably be required to start less than 10 games all being well.

My point is that we should be investing in other areas of the pitch.
Our midfield is the worst in the league imo and we need 2 new centre backs.
If we can pick up someone better than kenny for free and on lower wages then I'm all for it
It seems to me that the way Lampard wants to play relies really heavily on the full backs and we can't rely on Kenny.

There is a lot of evidence that Kenny isn’t ready to start games at this level.
Exactly this. Take away the fact that's a scouser and he wouldn't still be here. We don't even need to spend any money to replace him. Just wages if that's really the argument. I would argue for buying another RB to compete with Patterson but I also realize that we don't have any money and that Coleman will be here for another season, even through he shouldn't.

With that being said, I'm not going to be that upset either way. It's time to push Patterson and see what he can do.

He wasn’t deemed good enough for the SPL, which would suggest his level, would actually be in league one.

I said this at the start of the season, like genuinely, not in a cliche way, he is League 1 level. I think any Championship team that had him as their starting right back would probably be struggling near the bottom.

For all those saying he's versatile back-up:

Yes, he is versatile, but he's rubbish. Your back-up players must be half decent and dependable. They must be players you're fine not starting but also not worried when they're required.

He is none of that.

He’s versatile in the sense that he was asked to play at left back a couple of times by Lampard. That doesn’t mean he can play left back. Andy Lonergan could play at left back if he was physically put there in a line up by the manager. Kenny can do a job at right back, in League 1, and that’s about it.
