Jonathan de Guzman

I don't believe there is much in this. If he is highly rated, Feyenoord will expect a hefty transfer price (10+ is my guess) and Moyes won't blow that much money at this time on a youngster. Unless of course he can't spend the money on anything else. For de Guzman's position either Moyes will want someone more high profile (=Moutinho) or he'll probably be happy with what he got (Arteta, Pienaar, Osman), or as a third option he might be looking at someone a bit cheaper.

He was going to spend big on Fernandes last year who is a young player. He was going to spend big on Moutinho aswell so maybe de Guzman is an alternative to Mout.

We need a squad and Moyes has said he's got money to spend, he's also said he'd have to lower his sights a bit. Feynoord also have financial problems so maybe we will get him cheaper than we expected.

Here's another link, this one a lot more reliable than the others. Could be something in it after all.http://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/voetbal/1769994/_transfercarrousel_in_volle_gang_.html?p=3,1
Basically it says that Feyenoord accepts that there's a strong possibility that Jonathan de Guzman could be leaving them. It mentions that Everton want to sign him, as we do need midfield inforcements.

Also says, Feyenoord do not really want to sell, but could use the money from his sale for transfers of their own. Also says that Arsene Wenger monitored the progress of the young prospect for years.

Apparently Arsenal are linked with a £12m bid for the kid, so that gives you a kinda ballpark figure we're supposedly meant to match.

Would really surprise me, if de Guzman went for anything over 8m GBP maximum. Feyenoord is in a financial mess, so it's not like dealing with sporting Lisbon. If a good offer comes in, I think somewhere in the 6-8 million bracket, Feyenoord won't be in the position to decline. As I said before, I don't know if he's ready yet for the Premiership, but a tremendous prospect without doubt. Would love him at Everton.

I think he'd be as good a signing as Moutinho in the long-run. Considering he'd be half the cost now (less?!), has a couple of extra years on his side and won't arrive with all the weight of being a former club captain, International regular and supposed 'next big thing'.

Portugal & Holland have to be two of the best countries in terms of producing a steady flow of top class players, so both have had a good footballing education thus far, I just feel that Moutinho would arrive under so much expectation and could take longer to adjust to life in the Premiership - if for nothing else other than de Guzman speaks English and wouldn't have such a big climate adjustment to make (see Vidic's comments this week?).

Between Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Castillo?, Rodwell & Osman, I think we've got enough talent through the middle of the park, really is more out-and-out wingers we could do with - read that Obinna's supposed to be more than a little handy down the left, de Guzman could be the answer down the right.

There's still a lot of talk in the Dutch media about De Guzman joining Everton today. One of the leading (probably the leading) footy journalists in Holland is talking about in on Voetbal International - Home. Nice to hear him talking about Everton, who he thinks is one of the biggest clubs in England. A couple of years back he also said he personally preferred Everton over the RS.

Maybe they will suprise us, I'd like this lad, I've heard some good things about him from you and other people.
