The worst referee about, maybe by a distance. Ask for it and you get it with this clown. As long as you’re a top 6 side.

Smalling puts in a leg breaker as Richarlison is threatening their goal and no card. Young wrestles everyone who comes within 30 yards of him, no card. Gueye gets the ball, penalty.

He’s not just incompetent, he’s got no bottle.

Blame him all you want, but we lost to a top 6 team. That’s not exactly out of the ordinary is it?
It’s fair to blame him. It’s always fair to blame a ref when they give the other side a 1 goal handicap right from the start. It changes how both teams approach the game tactically. It killed our momentum and spurred them on

Changed the game really the initial penalty, United had not really created much before. Then the game opened up for them to get the 2nd.

Absolutely no idea how that gets given as a foul, bring back VAR

It’s one of them, from his position it looks a penalty, VAR will change that completely but for now it is what it is.

It’s how our heads went down for the rest of the first half that is worrying.

I'm not generally one for moaning about the ref but he was terrible. Aside from the shocking penalty decision and letting Smalling off the hook massively, the way he did nothing about them constantly pulling our players back was infuriating. I'm only amazed he never found a reason to send Gana off.

It’s concerning but understandable. They all knew it wasn’t a foul. It was a deflating decision if I’ve ever seen one.

I can’t count the number of advantages he called back on us. He played them for United but decided we didn’t deserve them for whatever reason
