They've not offered any players yet Brugge mate. We were rumoured to be interested in the young lad as part of the deal a while back but they offered him a new 5 year contract.

If Dunne was the only player I'd still want over 20 mill.

ah right, got it (y)

Yes in that case 20m def. but that wouldnt be such a bad deal to be honest, dunne is still quite able, would be motivated to prove himself if he had to switch sides, i dno i've actually got quite a bit of respect for him
f-ed up a bit last season but still a leader on the pitch, which is exactly what we need

20m or more plus dunne, i'd accept

Dunne would be ok as a temporary measure as he is a quality professional even if no longer at the top of his game , but we would still have to replace him eventually and he would have no resale value .
He is basically surplus to requirements at City , and I think City would be taking advantage if they used him as part of a deal unless the price significantly increases .

I'd rather they gave us Weiss to be fair , as he is looking a very good prospect for our right side .

Lawrenson is badly wrong. Moyes would lose face if he did what he's suggesting. Too much of Moyes' own personal stock has been placed on the issue. If Lescott goes - which I suspect he will - the manager is going to look very foolish. The worst thing he could have done was to make the 'I'm in charge at this club' statement last Friday. If he hadn't, the impending sale could have been dressed up as a reluctantly made but pragmatic collective decision.

Yes, you guessed it Just For Men is in the media again, bogging on about Lescott is an undoubted concerted effort to destabilise olayer and club, im really begining to feel we should report them to the FA.

Manchester City are set to make a third bid for Everton defender Joleon Lescott and are preparing a player-plus-cash deal this time.

City are unwilling to go above the £18million they offered the Toffees last time but are prepared to include a player in a bid to sweeten the deal for David Moyes' side.

City boss Mark Hughes is believed to be willing to offer Richard Dunne, Martin Petrov or Jo - who is currently on loan at Everton - as part exchange for Lescott who now looks destine to leave Goodison Park.

The England international was booed by some sections of the Everton crowd during their 6-1 mauling by Arsenal on Saturday and there are reports suggesting that the whole Lescott saga is unsettling the Toffees squad.

Hughes says he has sympathy with Moyes over the whole saga because no manager ever wants to lose his best player.

"This season we have been able to attract some top-level players and maybe he is fearful of the consequences as we chase a top-six place," said Hughes

"David has made it obvious he is unhappy with the situation and how it has developed, and I can understand his frustration because no manager wants to lose his best players.

"I can well understand that but I am quite comfortable with it in terms of how we try to conduct our business and how we try to make things happen."

The way we're going this summer this looks like this only way we are actually going to sign anyone.

I'll stick by it that he wont look foolish.

It'll be his decision and if he feels that Lescott is hurting the side then admit defeat and let him go.

But not for £18mill and Richard Dunne. Christ no.

Not likeing the change is stance from the press, last week it was all Moyes and Everton upholding the integrity of the game, this week its why Moyes must sell Lescott.

They can do one as far as i am concernd, not forgetting their role in this whole affair.

Free the independent thinkers.

Liverpool Echo.co.uk - Everton FC - News - NIGEL MARTYN: Joleon Lescott saga will prove costly to Everton unless it gets solved
Add Martyn to Lawrenson. Pressure piling on Moyes now.

Whats the difference between Lescott wanting to go and Moyes refusing to sell him this year and Barry wanting to leave Villa last year but O'Neil refusing to sell him?

Barry got his head down and got on with the job he was paid to do and seemingly so did every one else at the club considering Villas season last year.

The press thinks it has a massive blow to the team and ws the casue of the performance on the weekend.

Personally, Lescott looked like he had his head down and was our best defender/player on the park if you had to pick one.

I cant see how the speculation around Lescott would leave massive holes in the centre of the midfield (like it did last year), Yobo for not picking up his man for 2 goals. Baines getting done by Bentdner all game. Hibbert being himself. Jo and Osman being annomynous. And Moyes practically admitting he hasnt coached the players well and probably went in half cocked.

Thursdays game will be the test of the team because from what I can see is that they'll play the counter attack and do us big time. We just need to be soild.

How Lescott can affect the entire side I have no idea.

I do think Moyes should slap £25mill on his head, like he should've done from the get go, and see what Citeh do. Rumour is that now they wont go above £18million. Joke that is.
