Only the once, honestly.

Fumin', just go now Lescott. Please.

Ive said it from the very beginning on these very pages that we should get shut . Lescott is not worth 15 million nevermind 22 million . Anyone saying we should hold out for 30 million is mental . City will never bid such a ludicrous amount . If we have any sense whatsoever we will take this golden handshake from City and cut him loose .

Lescott is a good player but FFS can you not see whats infront of you ? ie another Andy Johnson type transfer . We will not get this chance again .

I think maybe he hoped the fans would turn on him, so it will make it easier for him to be sold.
His next step if he is adamant he wants to leave, is to hand in the request that was mentioned. He would lose the sign on fee i believe. So that why he is reluctant to do so.

If he thought the fans would turn on him, he obviously knew they've got something to turn on them about.

I think your over reacting a but wool, I think he's a good player, I just think £20million is absolutely ridiculous money for a defender who's made a few England appearances, and wouldn't bat an eye lid at anything over it.

Not over reacting mate . I rate him as a defender but I know he is not worth 22 million , not now not ever . I also know that once someone , regardless of what they do , wants to leave its best to find a solution thats suits everyone and move them along .

Fair enough. If the economical state of affairs was the same as 3 years ago, Lescott wouldn't be worth £10million - never mind £30.

But the fact EVERYONE who's gone somewhere this season has been over priced, Lescott will be as well.

22 million is about as over priced as it gets . Infact it doesnt get anymore over priced . We are in the middle of a global recession and City are offering us 22 million ? It doesnt get more stupid than this .

People will look back at this period with disbelief of that I am sure .

Most definitely.

In 3 years time, we'll say to our selves, Jesus, how did we end up getting £25million for HIM?

It would be one of the best bits of business Moyes has done (selling wise) since being with us.

Doesn't it offer us a glimpse of hope that something interesting is just around the corner ? I mean if Moyes is unconcerned about the money , and determined to keep Lescott and co here , don't ya just wonder ? :)

No, hes just stubborn.

My reply.

Think about it, £22million. It's ludicrous money. He'd be one of the most expensive defenders of all time, and he isn't worth that at all.

Take it and run I say. In 2 years we will be looking to replace him, but then where back to our usual situation....well err, it sounds simple enough, but what money with?

I personally believe the main reason Moyes is standing firm over Lescott is to send a message to the other main players on our squad that their contracts are worth the paper they are written on and that he is a man of integrity when it comes to that dotted line . If all he has told the players is to hold weight he cannot budge from his current stance as it would make a mockery of all that he has built . But it must be killing him knowing he could get 22 million for a player like Lescott . I bet he cannot sleep .
