For me the bidding should start at £30m, for that money I might consider it to be fair offer.

I'd say £25m would be a fantastic offer. I think City will fall short of that, though. TBH, I expect Lescott to be with us next season.

It makes sense if you make one area of the pitch MUCH stronger, and one area of the pitch slightly weaker.

In the opinion of Capello, Ferdinand, Terry, Upson, King, Jagielka and possibly now Cahill are better centre halves. That's just the English. Put it this way - replacing Osman with a world class player would result in a lot more than 4 extra goals a season.

By the way, I do think that if Torres had scored that one on one in the derby at Anfield (after he caught Lescott flat footed and out of position on a long punt), and we'd have lost as a result, the general opinion of Lescott would be lower.

The replacement would have to be of the same standard, not any less. I think you would be hard pressed to do that.

OK, in your opinion a fair offer places Lescott as the 11th most expensive footballer of all time? And the most expensive defender of all time?

Skirtel, Hangeland, Upson, Cahill, Alex, King and Woodgate are all debatable in my opinion.

Lescott best attribute is he's a very good defender and his performances speak for themselves. One mistake wouldn't change my opinion of him and I doubt it would for alot of Blues.

He is without doubt one of the best defenders in the League.

I wouldnt sell him, so for me, in order for me to even consider it good business, it would have to be a HUGE price. Record breaking even.

Im off to wiki to look at the prices City have bought players, lets compare, back soon.

To be fair to Mik, I think he's looking at breaking up a team. It's difficult to put a price on that sort of thing. Individually, players in a team might not be the best in the world. Collectively, though, they make something that is world-class.

He is without doubt one of the best defenders in the League.

I am in about 60% agreement with this.

One of the best defenders in the League isn't worth £30. Im sorry, but he just isn't.

Oh, and good thinking with the Wiki stats...couldn't be arsed to look my self properly Lordy.

And as someone said, getting rid of his 5 goals a season, for a quality player in for Osman, would give us more than that.
