Rio Ferdinand is the best centre back around at the moment.

He cost 30 million, I think people have to be realistic. 20 million is alot of money for a centre back, if someone came in with that type of bid for Joleon Lescott then I have no doubts the club would seriously look at it.

I'm a massive fan, I don't want him to leave and he's a quality player but in football you've always got to keep your options open.

Still I see no names.

I can't name you a better scoring centre half than Lescott.

I can name you Vidic, Ferdinand and Jagielka who are better centre halfs though.

A centre half's job isn't to score goals - if he does, bonus. But id rather have any of them 3 any time.

And before you say "well why would you sell Lescott for anyone but Vidic or Ferdinand", my answer is I think it would benefit the whole team for the amount of money we would receive for him.

But my whole arguement is based on the fact we would be making 1 area of the pitch weak, in order to make another area stronger. For me it doesnt make sense.

We would have to buy a replacement centre half though if we did sell him so how does it benefit the team?

Neither did the Rooney transfer to me to be honest.

That is a huge factor as to what we are today.

Toxteth Blue has it right, Mik. If a huge offer came in, it would have to be seriously looked at. Thankfully, it will be Moyes that makes the decision should that occur. But if he chose to sell, you can't say it wouldn't be with good intentions.
