The OS in 1939:

'Herr Hitler has stated categorically today that there will be no attack on Poland or France.

Sound as a pound. That's that then.

Dont forget, two days left to enter the Tommy Lawton tobacco tin competition.'

To make it stand out.
Jolean has made the right noises so far, more than Johnson last year, but the story has legs and I expect taht City will make a bid, but I then expect both player and club to bat it into the dust.

I don't - not if the reported £90,000 a week is true. He would be off like a shot, make no mistake.

It would really depend how far they were willing to go, every player has a price, you only have to look at Kaka and Ronaldo to see that point proved.

Personally I would love us to keep saying no.

That's the thing. Its not the transfer fee its his wages. Gareth Barry is on 100K. Gareth Barry is not that good to be on 100K. Lescott, argued, could be worth it.

But then it comes down the club Loyalty. Barry never gave a [Poor language removed] about Villa last season when he wasnt let go....

In fact, bollocks. We can hold Citeh to ransom. Villa did it to the RS so why cant we? We're in a better league position than Citeh, the player is contracted till 2012 or something, so we dictate how much the player is.

If Villa can bat back 15mill from the RS for a player with 1 year left on his cotnract, then we can do that for a player with 4 years left on his contract. End. Of.

Anyway...Lescott's replaced Arteta on the rumour mill being he's injured.

In the end it will be Joleon's decision. It's easy to come out on the OS and state he isn't interested in a move away. Thus far, there hasn't been an approach or bid by City, but if they are serious in their attempts to get him and make a firm bid, I for one am very curious about his reaction then. Lets face it, only very few players would decline an offer that will double their current wages. If he's gonna leave, I hope a bid will come in very soon. That way we have the time to use the money wisely. Don't want to have another Rooney situation.

That said, I'd prefer he stayed, as he's a very important member of our squad.

I agree mate, £15m is jokingly low for a club with endless funds to splash. If they want him to build the defence around then they're going to have to shell out. Next year they're likely to be one of our main rivals so it doesn't make sense to sell to them unless they give us close to £30m!!

Exactly...they're going to be rivals. Just like United wouldnt sell a player to the RS or Chelsea to United...unless its for stupid money.

But as mentioned if Villa can stand by and not sell Gareth Barry, age 29 with 1 year left on his contract, for less than £18million to a team playing regular Champions League and challanging leage titles....then I'm sure we can hold out against Citeh for atleast £18million.
