Thoughts on him?

I really can't stand him.

John Terry makes plea for Jamie Carragher return to England squad | International Football - Times Online
It said something about the paucity of top-class English central defenders yesterday when John Terry offered Jamie Carragher as a solution to a growing problem that could have devastating consequences for Fabio Capello’s plans for the World Cup finals next summer.

.....

Matthew Upson is likely to partner Terry against Kazakhstan this evening, in the absence of Ferdinand with a calf injury, but neither the West Ham United defender, Joleon Lescott nor Phil Jagielka, both from Everton, have shown that they belong at the highest level. Terry admitted as much yesterday, by effectively issuing an SOS for a man who retired after winning his 34th cap while playing at right back against Brazil two years ago.
“I think we could do with Carragher back in the squad,” Terry said. “That’s down to Carra to come back out of retirement. We all understood his frustration, but we’d all like him to come out of retirement.
“I spoke to Carra at the time, but it’s his decision. I don’t want to sit here and speak for him. Going into the World Cup, it’d be great if he did come back and make the competition even more difficult for all of us.
However, there are other options. “There’s still Matty [Upson], who everyone’s speaking highly of, and he’s had a very good year. Joleon’s done very well again and Gary Cahill has come into the squad. It’s down to Carra to come out and make a statement, really.”

Probably isn't ideal for an England Captain to criticise the ability of fellow defenders in making a plea for Carragher to come out of retirement, especially on the eve of two World Cup qualifiers.

He always has too much to say. Vastly overrated as well.

He is a bit of an idiot.

Not sure where in the article he says that they can't handle it at the highest level. But like you say, calling for someone that can barely run and that turned his back on his country can't be good for the current players confidence. Tool.

Seems to be the journalist saying that, which is a little harsh to say the least.

Terry has made it far too easy to interpret it that way though. No player, not even a Liverpool player, should have a divine right to play for their country. Carragher turned his back on England - his decision - an England Captain shouldn't be making a plea for him to come back. He isn't even that good!

I dont envisage Lescott or Upson etc to appreciate his comments. Would you appreciate his comments just before World Cup Qualifiers? All he has effectively done is place his defensive partner under scrutiny. This, from an England Captain.

Has John Terry seen Carragher play this season? Even the reds think he's blown a gasket and should be eased out of the starting eleven.

Even some Chelsea fans I know have had enough of him and wanted to see a Carvalho & Alex pairing in their side.

No pace, no 1st touch, not particularly tall or good in the air and honestly doesn't read the game brilliantly, hence their need to often play 2 deep midfielders in Mikel & Essien... He's just a lump that likes to shout a lot...

The CB pairing is his fault. He's a total fraud. I guessing Chelsea is hoping Citeh is stupid enough to bid for him. He's the one who should be benched. At least Carragher is semi-tolerable.

For me, everything with John Terry is last ditch. I think he's an ok defender but nothing special.

And I can't stomach that piece of human waste that is Jamie Carragher.

Terry hasn't been voted in the Premier League's Team of the Year since 2005-06, which seems ludicrous given that players like Thomas Vermaelen and Richard Dunne have been selected ahead of him at one time or another. He won't hold his breath for a place this time around, either. In general, Terry isn't liked, isn't respected and is barely even admired. But if you ignore his personality, it's clear the Chelsea captain remains arguably the best centre-back in England.
