Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has paid tribute to the Everton defender after his superb display last weekend at the Liberty Stadium. Stones is a doubt for the Blues’ trip to West Bromwich Albion on Monday night with a knee problem. But Williams has no doubt that the 21-year-old has a very bright future ahead of him.

“I had played against him before, so I knew what all the fuss was about,” Williams told the Mirror. “But this time I thought his performance was excellent. “In fact, it was one of the best centre-half performances I’ve seen at the Liberty. “There is so much to his game, and as a fellow central defender there’s a lot there to appreciate.”
