We the country not we the club. Obviously Derek Mountfield is the best ball playing centre half I've seen at Goodison, but he also knew when to lump it

Everton's defence last season was an absolute shambles and John Stones can't be held responsible. I don't remember any improvement when he was out of the team. How many times did he 'twist himself in knots' as you describe it? Playing the ball out from the back is fine if you have
the skill and confidence to do it. Sliding tackles in your penalty area aren't a good idea and I remember a couple of those, but that's about all.
