John Stones transfer saga

Because it's telly mate, they have editors and producers and directors who set it all up, pretty much down to the length of time they discuss it. "And tonight's story/angle is....."
maybe on political news programme they will be consistently feeding the interviewer duing the interview on the angle and areas to discuss, but on MOTD I doubt it is much more then an overview of what topics they should bring up and covering their backs on legal issues. There won't be an autocue for the questions, just the links, so the way in which Lineker approached the Stones debate would be entirely down to him and will have been discussed with Shearer to stear it towards the things he wants to say. It definitely seemed to take Murphy by surprise.

I still haven't seen a thing that makes me think Stones is considering this move. reports that someone has heard something behind the scenes can be taken as nonsense in light of how desperate the media are to get him sold. Loads of them now coming out and saying he will take Cahill's place this season. signs of real panic.
The player is on a long term contract and won't start refusing to play so all this will go away if we let it. would be so funny if the whole thing started unsettling Cahill instead. Mourinho is just a chancer who believes his own hype. He doesn't build for the future and isn't a great man/manager unless he sees how you fit into his scheme of things. Any young player should be very wary of going there. My gut feeling is that if Stones ever does go it will be to a club like Barca in a few years time who look after their own.

I've given up with football. I will always watch/check Everton's score, but honestly what's the point? I've made the decision not to watch any other team's matches this season. That said my mate text me about Motd last night, so I watched it the hawking of Stones this morning. After a summer of hearing how Sterling is worse than a mass murderer for wanting to win things, Stones is being talked up to leave. These idiot pundits bemoaned the fact that Chelsea won the league at a canter last year but hope they sign Stones and weaken Everton further.

I hate the hierarchy in football these days. There is no competition really. A mass boycott of the TV outlets and media is required to even things up, but that will never happen. As long as there are enough glory hunting whoppers watching United and Liverpool, alongside neutrals, then Everton will need a billionaire to compete. Had enough of it.
You, like all of us will be back. We can't live without footy and they know it!

Fair enough mate, I did not see it. Agree about the autocue.

Anyone else a bit disappointed by jagielka's comments in the local press. He spoke of advising john through this difficult period, but at no time did he mention he wants the lad to stay. From the club captain the very least you would expect is for him to say he hopes he (stones) stays at everton.

tricky though isn't it. even by saying you want him to stay you are keeping the debate going when really it should be done and dusted. Not For Sale. The lad needs to be left alone to play.

He stated his conversations were private so I agree why put it out there - RM must get a grip of all this - has wants to concentrate on his game he was at fault with stones for both goals on Sat - We need a stopper at the back, like him or loath him Skirtle isn't pretty but he was the reason the jammy lot won yesterday just crude basic centre half play on the deck , and in the air - us trying to control the ball in the area cost us a lot of times 2 goals conceded again!

If John himself handed in a transfer request that would make it a lot harder to refuse to sell - keeping unhappy players sometimes works out but it isn't an ideal situation.

When players come over to the fans at the end of a game you can often see in their eyes if they think something major might happen. Recent examples being Deulofeu and Lukaku at the end of their loans, one effectively saying goodbye and the other looking like someone who expected to be back

Stones, as he pretty much always does, came over to the Park End at the end of the match on Saturday and there was nothing in his eyes or body language to suggest he thought he was off.

I'd be amazed if he's not still an Everton player on the 2nd September.

Like everyone was saying about Baines two seasons ago!

You only have to look and compare this to how the RS handled suaraz potentially going to arsenal that summer. Owners said he wouldn't be sold and Gerrard in the national press reiterating how much him and the club wanted him to stay. This was even after how suaraz had dragged the clubs name through the dirt with his antics to engineer a move.
I don't think it would be too much to ask for our club captain to state john has a difficult decision to make, but as captain of our club I hope he stays and continues his development at everton.

Everton are considering a move for AC Milan defender Cristian Zapata as a possible replacement for John Stones, sources have told ESPN FC.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is drawing up a list of defensive targets amid fears Stones could leave for Chelsea before the close of the transfer window.

Chelsea have seen two bids rejected by Everton for Stones, but the Premier League champions are expected to come back with a new offer for the England international as they look to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Martinez is still looking to add a new central defender even if they manage to keep hold of Stones as he needs a replacement for Sylvain Distin, who left for Bournemouth on a free transfer, in his squad.

Swansea's Ashley Williams and Celtic's Virgil van Dijk have been linked with moves to Everton, but both Swansea and Celtic are determined to keep hold of their defensive lynchpins respectively.

Colombia international Zapata has now emerged on Everton's radar with the 28-year-old finding himself down the pecking order at the San Siro.

Zapata, who can also play at right-back, made just eight starts in Serie A last season and find himself behind Alex, Philippe Mexes and Gabriel Paletta in the pecking order in the Milan side.

The former Villarreal man is entering the final year of his contract at Milan and the Rossoneri could be tempted to sell for the right offer rather than risk allowing the South American to run down his contract.

Spot on at this time Stones has a lot to learn two mistakes with jags if he does that with the chosen one he will be sent out on loan it's UNT who will or may sneaking for him that is my worry with that deadbeat Jonny Evans as bait!

Rooney is the only bait Utd can offer for Stones, which is what I see as being very possible next summer, assuming he beats Charltons record.

Seriously?

From earning £300K a week and playing in the Champion's League to earning £150K (at best) and drawing with the likes of Watford?
