We're in a bit of a strange time in terms of online freedoms, that tory fickwut that got jail time (rightly) for going on whichever social media slurry pit to suggest setting fire to asylum hotel/s.
hang on.
hang on. (Everton ladies equalised).
The battle lines re online behaviour are being drawn, think linehan, think rowling, think t robinson, and this now escalation with barton.
Something had to be done, because online hate, encouraging violence and terrorism, was escalating and so the untamed wilderness of cyber space needed facing in some way.
(My concern is, there's still easy access to all sorts of forbidden stuff apparently available through tor into the dark web spaces, if the authorities can't get hold of serious criminals (drugs, murderers, people trafficking) then it does seem a bit of an overreaction to be choking up courts with the thoughts and opinions of joey barton). We have slander and defamation laws already, alter them if need be. Thing is, what can you take off someone that owns nothing, for instance... "bob the tramp has called some blond previous tory pm a sex predator, can't fine him or take his house off him, he doesn't have one - so what, stick him in strangeways with the rapists and murderers?"
