Definitely has the potential to be better than Howard.

Commands his area better and comes for crosses much more often.

Lots of great catches today. Did have to make one solid save also, it was a powerful bugger of a shot and he had quick reactions and a strong hand.

I would love him to really come good this season - it's so obvious how much it means to him to prove his worth to the fans.

Joel has played 7 games now and we have lost only the first 2 of them. We are on a good run with him in goal, and even thou i didnt have a problem with Howard, it will be criminal if Roberto drops Joel when Howard is fit again, he hasnt let us down at all, well pleased with him.

The Gayle effort that got passed him was a fantastic effort to be fair to Joel. He was close and big and Gayle managed to flick it just over his shoulder. Thank F for Jags covering.
Joel can stay #1 now, he's earned it. He's a big imposing presence for crosses and I like it.

I appreciate that he's taken his chance at the #1 slot well, but I feel we need a better goalkeeper than either him or Howard.

Done nothing wrong for me so far.. Deserves to have faith shown in him. I'd rather us concentrate on causing the opposition problems this window. If we only have money for one or the other.

Agree totally, you can see he really wants to succeed here and in doing so become a great fan favourite.

he got caught badly for their chance which Jags cleared off the line. He needs to improve that because he did a similar thing against sunderland. HOwever, he is improving every game and should retain his place. Howard's been a good servant but its time for him to go back to MLS

He still has that look of being petrified on his face maybe? Annoyed the heck out of me the penalty shoot out against West Ham just how scared he looked compared to their keeper.
Needs to get some mongrel in him...
