Wasn't old enough to see him play, was 7 when he left as manager so can't comment on those.

I can comment that having met him, he's such a nice bloke, no ego, no arrogance. Genuinely one of the nicest 'footballing' people i'v had the pleasure of speaking to, top gentleman.

When I was a nipper if I wouldn't eat my grub,my old man would stick the food on a fork and commentate,"johnny Morrissey goes down the wing, and centres it to Joe royle"at which point I'd open my gob and my dad would shove the food in,"and it's a goal"!!!thanks Joe!!!
I now use the fork, with the food on.. Pretending it's a plane..
Make a plane noise..

And here comes the plane.. With the Kenwright out banner on !!

I love Joe Royle. As if there's anyone who doesn't......

My nan loved him as a player, let's face it we all love Joe Royle. In a nice bit of relief from worrying about Wednesday and Saturday's games, let's talk about Joe Royle in an attempt to foster some positivity.

If you don't love Joe Royle, lash yourself in the nearest bin.

Dad roomed with him in the youth team.
Used to have competition to see who could eat the most mars bars after the games.

Top man.

Always remember his terrific header, the third as we beat Middlesbrough 3-0 in the cup at Goodison. A great cross and he was up like a salmon planting a great header into the Street End goal.

Jesus mate. I just woke up, grabbed my phone in bed, saw this thread on top, and yelled out with joy believing he was our new Manager!

Only saw him as a player when he scored for Norwich at the street end, think we got applauded, liked him as manager and was gutted when he went which I'm sure didn't need to happen. 10 years retired - I'm sure he could have organised the current side and had a good go at winning the cup.

Behave!!! It would be an awful appointment. Big Joe certainly wouldn't be jumping out of bed, that's for sure. He'd struggle to make it into FF before the players had their lunch :P
