Considering other captains got us relegated and didn't reach Cup Finals, he avoids the worst of all-time label

Hardly one of the best though

Lower Middle I'd say
And other captains dragged us through games on their own and weren't great footballers either.

Phil Neville fluked his way to a final by being a ghost on the pitch (but pointing, he was basically a haunted finger) or, at best, being in the way of 10 actual footballers trying to play football.

FFS if we had suggested signing Hart 2 seasons ago everyone would have laughed at us and would have thought it a joke that we could get him. He hasn't suddenly become a [Poor language removed] keeper, in fact at 29 hrs probably got his best years ahead of him in that position.

Surely we can do better than a keeper whose only just over a day old?

Back to topic Mikey.

Hart, the more I hear from him and what he wants the less I want him at Goodison. Someone said he hadn't suddenly become a crap keeper, he hadn't, he's been on the slide for years having peaked in his early 20's. Give all the stats you want there is no getting away from the fact that he had a superior defence in front of him and crucially he had ambition. The guy has lost his drive, life got too easy with him forgetting what he did best. His antics in the Euros are well monitored and cannot be ignored but he had a series of cock ups in the league last year which again made his position as the national number one doubtful, many thought he was lucky to be picked by Hodgson. He is said to want a loan move, sorry if he comes here he has to be committed to us, that can't happen if he has one eye on Citeh's results and maintain the hope of being on their first team again. If he comes it has to be on a permanent deal and basically he needs to greatly improve if he is ending up as our keeper.

After initial scepticism, I'm warming to the idea of some sort of a deal for Joe Hart. While I always thought he has never been as good as he is cracked up to be just because he is England's no.1, he is nonetheless a very good keeper and aged 29, suggesting a lot of years left in him. A quick squizz through his stats tells me that after joining City, and including his Birmingham City loan spell (something that had completely escaped my memory) he has kept 118 clean sheets in 301 PL games, a very healthy 39% ratio. Obviously, that is helped playing behind a team that has had hundreds of millions lavished on it!
£40m and £200k p.w. would be just stupid. But if we can half that on both counts, then maybe a deal would be good sense? All I have to do now if banish the memory of Lens and the Welsh game and Hart stood 20 yds in front of me fumbling Bale's free-kick into the net (and the even worse blunder later in the tournament).

See, this I'm fine with as it's not just saying "Look this stat shows he's good. Argument over!"

And yeah, he may indeed be a step up from what we have and I'm warming to the idea of him coming

Again, I will say that I'd be uncomfortable with him coming straight in and taking the starting jersey, as I'd feel Stekky would have to have a bad run first (Which he inevitably will do if he's just a back up option, which he very well may be)

But yeah, I'm feeling better about this possible signing than I was yesterday at any rate

I agree with the coming straight in thing, I have a feeling however that Hart would see that as a slap in the face. This is just my thoughts on it, I don't claim to have any inside knowledge on Joe Harts mental state of mind or anything.

Where has that come from??! Surely not!

Nobody in their right mind would consider that a price worth paying for Joe feckin' Hart!!!

I think it's reasonable to suggest that if a player was signed for 30 Million he would expect to go straight into the team over the other guy also in his position who cost 750K

It would be down to Koeman at that point to explain the reasoning why Hart would need to earn his place
