Joe Hart: Has kept more clean sheets (95) than any other goalkeeper in the last 7 Premier League seasons; Petr Cech second (75)

That fact isn't as impressive as it is at first glance when you consider he has been playing for a team which spends most the game attacking and the opposition are often more interested in parking the bus than getting forward.

If he had kept that many cleans sheets for a Bobby Martinez or Brendan Rodgers side then it would really be sommat to behold :)

What I will say is that he'd be much more ideal for us than he would be for City. I can completely see why Guardiola wants shut of him, as he's awful with the ball at feet and he wants that from a 'keeper.

However, the way I suspect we're aiming to play, we basically just want a shot stopper, and Hart is good at that.

All the years I have looked across the park and thought what a bunch of self righteous, entitled whoppers they are and now we suddenly have a few quid and bingo! Think I'd rather go back to the days when Bill was reaching down the back of a sofa, get a grip and show some class, we are better than this. If our manager wants to sign the England keeper and he wants to come to us then that should be enough for us, 12 months ago you'd all be pinching yourselves.

I don't disagree with much of that.

I reserve the right not to blindly trust a manager who wants to fetch in the "England goalkeeper" though.

We did that not so long ago and it didn't end well

IMO a goalkeeoer needs to be a shot stopper first and foremost.

Closely followed by an ability to claim high balls into the kill zone.

Him being able to "play the ball out of defence" would we well down my list of priorities.

Agreed, thing is city dont need him now as they have bought the `mighty Stones` they too only need a shot stopper

Depends on your side. For Guardiola, he's had a successful way of playing which builds from a 'keeper who can do stuff with the ball at his feet.

Joe Hart simply isn't that. He's a really good shot stopper though.

Is that worth the price tag bandied around for him though? Not for me.

I'm not against a loan for him, paying half his current wages and a £3-5m fee perhaps, because not only do I think the suggested fee isn't reflective of his ability, I'm also wary of his attitude. I don't think he's a winner; I just think he's an absolute cock. There's a difference.

Do you think he's the kind of fella to accept it? It would be a hard pill to swallow going from Title winning contenders number 1 to on the bench at a project that finished 11th 2 years on the bounce. Hope he is like

Well my thought is that if Stekky isn't the best choice for #1 it will quickly become apparent and Hart will slide straight in after a couple of games

If Stekky is good enough to be #1, then we've essentially paid 30 Million for a back up keeper though, hence why it's a gamble

This is why I'd personally prefer a loan over buying him straight out

That being said, Stekky might have just had a good few weeks, you never know

This football management lark can be difficult

Cant understand why we just dont buy another stiker. It is far to early to judge Stekelenburg, and Robles did ok with the worst defence in the pl
we have other positions need competition why do we need a 3rd keeper?

Everton transfer rumours: Deals in place for Blues to land Hart
Moves for Cillessen and Bravo should see England number one end up at Goodison

When Elton John sung about the 'Circle of Life' he could have been referring to the transfer rumour mill as one big loop could end with Everton landing Joe Hart according to the Mirror.

Their report claims that Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen who ironically was heavily scouted and monitored by previous Blues boss Roberto Martinez when it came to identifying a long-term successor for Tim Howard has actually agreed a move to Catalan giants Barcelona.

The 27-year-old is set for a £10million switch to the Spanish League Champions where he will battle it out with German Marc-Andre ter Stegen – who Manchester City wanted but couldn't get – for the number one spot.

His arrival will allow Camp Nou chiefs to then sell their Chilean international custodian Claudio Bravo to Manchester City with the 33-year-old expected to arrive in the North West as early as this weekend to complete a move.

This in turn will free up out-of-favour Joe Hart to depart the Etihad with the England number one now set to join Everton on loan for the rest of the season where he will work under Ronald Koeman – formerly of both Ajax and Barca of course.

What could go wrong? Well, Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund offering Hart Champions League football if he fancies trying his luck abroad in either La Liga or the Bundesliga but that spoils all this beautiful symmetry.

Virtually all the keepers in the PL have an average pass length over 40m. Barca keepers average mid 20m. Gaurdiola is trying to revolutionise football in the PL. It will be interesting to see if he succeeds. Lloris has the lowest average pass length in the PL with high 30m.
