I wish Biden would not go off-script similar to Trump. It's scary.

People on Twitter are a minority no matter their race, and if you're taking your cues about the election from social media venues of Twitter's ilk I think you're getting a not-particularly-representative view of things. All he has to do is be quiet and not be cool and he has a decent shot. Not going to make the black community happy as the looks of Twitter
It was a stupid thing to say, sure. Biden, as ever, is a gaffe machine. It was a dumb thing to say imo. Imagine Trump had said it
I assume he was referencing African Americans specifically because he was conversing with a black guy who often hosts discussions re: black life in America. Why has he specifically chosen blacks? Why not other minorities? Can they not make their own decision? In reality, it's crass and naive how he has said it.
Bidens latest gaffe I think is almost the nail in the coffin.
All he needs to do is keep it simple.
He's out there trying to outplay Trump at his own game. That won't work.
It just feeds again into the narrative of democrats being about identity politics. Biden had a whole dictionary of words to choose from other than 'black', and he still messed it up.
It is, but I don't think it detracts from Biden's gaff.Look at any Republican National Convention and it's pretty clear that the GOP is the party of identity politics, and that identity is white.
is he the new toffee9?
Over recent generations the GOP has definitely had better party discipline than the Dems in terms of turning out voters, so the failure of Dem or Dem-leaning citizens to vote is always a concern, especially when the Dem candidate doesn't touch them in their tingly places (per the cliche of American politics that "Democrats fall in love and Republicans fall in line"). Biden, as you may have noticed, is rarely characterized as visionary or particularly charismatic, so that would appear to be a problem. It is, but I don't think it detracts from Biden's gaff.
Perhaps I'm simplifying or stereotyping here, but I would expect many Republican will follow Trump regardless of what horrendous stuff he spouts and his mantra.
On the other hand, I would suspect that more democrats will be more morally conscious and Biden's gaffs and allegations will cause more division in his own party.
Basically, I think Biden has to be even more cautious because he stands for a wider spectrum of the population, and to alienate them will be detrimental.
I'm not American so it's only an outside perspective, but does Biden really stand for what the many of democrats desire and need? Does it match their own morals?
