I don't think people fully understand the reality of being a Republican/Trumphead who, deep down, know they've backed the wrong horse. His fans behave like a cult, and dissent can attract all sorts of the associated ire of that. In a lot of cases, it results in the end of friendships that were built over years on a lot more than the blind, slavish devotion that Trumps seems to breed in the weaker-minded.
I had a friend from the US stay with me for a few days on his visit to Ireland. He is a big Republican and very pro-Trump, but in his quieter, more honest moments at the bar, I got the sense of a man juggling with the contradictions of being a decent individual and trying to maintain relationships with the more extreme elements of his personal circle

Nope, if the DOJ ignored Hunter, charges could have been filed later. Now that he's been charged and pled guilty with a slap on the wrist, double jeopardy now protects him from being charged for those crimes. He can't be touched. It's crystal clear to anybody what is actually happening. If the Feds no longer have leverage over Hunter he can't be compelled to cooperate with a criminal investigation of his father's bribery
Also look at the lawyers who have handled hundreds of cases saying this is not equal application of the law.
So he can't be charged with the crimes he's already been charged with and pleaded guilty to?
Another tip from me, read your posts back before hitting the reply button, you might catch mistakes like that and not look silly.

I will try to make this as simple as possible. Hunter Biden is, by most accounts, a cokehead who has freeloaded off his dad his whole life. His whole existence is one that could be used as leverage over his old man.
To suggest that him pleading guilty to these offences means he is now untouchable for everything else is delusional; if anything it makes him even more vulnerable because him being a miscreant is a matter of public record. Indeed, his plea deal may well be conditional on him testifying against other people.
Yeah, that's a good point. I think there are largely 4 groups of people online who post this sort of stuff - those that are just too ignorant to understand the basics of how anything works, those that don't believe any of it but keep up the pretence whilst grifting, those that are similar but just trolling, and then a 4th group that have decided to treat politics (and wider issues such as culture wars) as some sort of sporting contest where they have to post stuff in support of their team in search of some hypothetical internet win (similar to trolls, but they do sort of believe what they post). Many of them might love to climb down, but they're too engaged now to give up.
After the first group, it must be exhausting to be a member of the other three, as they have to keep twisting narratives to fit the emerging facts. This goes double for the last group who may well come from an area of belief in the cause and have to keep 'doublethinking' their way through as more chinks in their worldview get exposed.
I tend to take the initial view with the sort of pro-Trump poster that they're just ignorant and need their hand holding whilst basic concepts are explained to them. When they reveal themselves to be any of the other types, it's safe to stop engaging as they're not ever going to discuss anything in good faith. They just want to spam you with anything pro-Trump, pro-Brexit, pro-Boris, pro-Putin, on and on. It doesn't really matter why, at this point it's all they have and they won't be listening to any replies.

Just as an aside, and I appreciate this probably won't get a proper answer, but have you ever wondered why you seem to just regurgitate things you are told?
I mean genuine independent thinkers tend to agree with some and disagree with some things, but you and your ilk just repeat the same stuff, in the same order. I would suggest you lot were bots but an AI would have improved its debating style by now surely.
