Still have no idea how Biden is perceived to be the best option though
It might be the case that when there are strong differences (especially ideological differences) between candidates, the most flexible (least ideological) figure may become the most likely one to achieve consensus even as they lack a robust following of their own.

Biden has always been a "consensus Democrat". He's moved to (at least approximately) where the party (and the majority of its support) is.

That's why he's running on the most progressive platform ever to have run in a US General Election, but isn't as far left as some other primary candidates were

Here's a whole thread for @Death
Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee.
No one seems to be a big fan of his.
Everyone thinks Reade should be heard fairly and fully.
I think he's too old.
He'll get my vote if he's running against Trump in November.
We could, should genuinely just close the thread and pin this.

Warren easily the best choice for Pres imo, but there are so many other considerations when it comes to the voting public. Still have no idea how Biden is perceived to be the best option though
I think there's a definite element of 'better the devil you know'.
Most Democrats are moderate and this showed in the 2018 mid-terms. The vast majority of seats won were moderate candidates who picked up votes from people who were too complacent in 2016. The suburbs came out to vote in '18.
Biden appeals to moderates, older voters, African Americans and a fair amount of Independents.
He needs a VP that can bring in progressives and younger voters.
I'd love to wake up one morning to hear that Biden has dropped out and all his delegates have pledged to support Michelle Obama who has changed her mind and is interested in becoming president, alas, she's too smart for that.

Yet he'll be characterized as Republican-lite regardless. Our narratives are rarely well-suited to our realities.

what if he doesnt pick Klobuchar, do you vote for Trump again?
100%. I’m giving him a chance. Would be a vote for him but for Amy. The other two will swing to far left for my liking. And I hate Harris for how she treated Brett Kavanaugh like he was guilty until proven innocent. Will never respect her. He’s probably not going to be her because she was like 6th on the ticket. Warren will probably get the nod because that campaign is gasping for air with votes

As a Brit I don’t get a say but in the same way as I’d like my epitaph to be “he did very little harm” I’d be voting Biden as a damage limitation exercise.
