I'm not his biggest fan but watched his town hall and it just struck me that it's boring.

That's not a bad thing. In fact, it's a good thing considering where we've moved politically over the last decade. Hopefully it continues rather than the reality show element.
I think one of Biden's advantages is that he's the natural choice of people who don't want to keep hearing about or from the POTUS every ten minutes.

He's trying to run the election as a referendum on Trump rather than on his own platform. It is an approach that can sometimes work. I remember Hollande beating Sarkozy in a similar way in France by making it all about the guy in charge. It's why Biden's campaign focuses so much more on what Trump is doing than they do on their own messaging. For example, I'd honestly struggle to tell you what exactly Biden is for and we're only what, 2 weeks out from an election. Boring therefore does suit Biden. The million dollar question though is will it be enough on its own?

1. *All* elections with an incumbent are a referendum on that incumbent, to a greater or lesser extent.
2. There are a quarter of a million dead people, of whom the best estimates say roughly 200,000 were probably avoidable with a competent federally led response. I’d bloody well hope it’s a referendum on the incumbent
3. That said, Biden and his campaign have gone into infinitely more detail on their policy platform than Trump has on his. Of course this is to a large extent because Trump doesn’t have the capacity to engage in substantive policy discussions....
