I would say it was unfair if the comparison was unjust, but apparently it isn't.

I don't mean to shatter your dream but Balague stated he thought Joaquin didn't have the attitude to play at the highest level.

Van der Meyde was similar, he had many shortcomings, some bad luck, but in the end his attitude was wrong.

So one journo, all be it a respected one in some quarters, gives the thumbs down and it's all deals off. The fact is I've probably seen as much if not more of Joaquin than Balague. Former Valencia president Vicente Soriano has stated that the club are under no pressure to sell their stars after receiving a €500million (£432m) boost.


The Primera Division side have struggled financially of late and further players were expected to leave this summer after Raul Albiol

was sold to Real Madrid.


Attackers Villa and Silva have both been linked with big-money moves away from Los Che, but Soriano has eased fears of an exodus.
Soriano has regained control at Valencia and revealed on Monday evening that an investment group, Inversiones Dalport SA, is willing to pay €500m for the site of the club's old Mestalla stadium.


"The grand Valencia project was held up by the economic crisis," Soriano said in quotes carried in the Spanish media.


"The club had a serious liquidity problem which paralysed its plan for growth. The very existence of Valencia was under threat but this is no longer the case."


He added at a press conference: "We will not be obliged to sell."


Thats no Joaquin or Fernandes then.
