I would say it was unfair if the comparison was unjust, but apparently it isn't.

I don't mean to shatter your dream but Balague stated he thought Joaquin didn't have the attitude to play at the highest level.

Van der Meyde was similar, he had many shortcomings, some bad luck, but in the end his attitude was wrong.

He's one of the top respected pundits of La Liga, so I think he is more qualified to give Joaquin an appraisal than me or you, no offence.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a vendetta or anything against Joaquin, and before I read this article I was all for Joaquin down our right flank.

He's had top clubs interested in him in the past but they have been put off by his attitude.

So one journo, all be it a respected one in some quarters, gives the thumbs down and it's all deals off. The fact is I've probably seen as much if not more of Joaquin than Balague. Now I don't claim to know as much about football as him (Not being ironic btw.), but I think this lad has about as much of an attitude about him as Arteta did before he settled at GP.

I doubt Ballache has ever watched a Spanish game myself. I think he can just read Marca and thinks hes the shizzle.

Former Valencia president Vicente Soriano has stated that the club are under no pressure to sell their stars after receiving a €500million (£432m) boost.

The Primera Division side have struggled financially of late and further players were expected to leave this summer after Raul Albiol

was sold to Real Madrid.

Attackers Villa and Silva have both been linked with big-money moves away from Los Che, but Soriano has eased fears of an exodus.
Soriano has regained control at Valencia and revealed on Monday evening that an investment group, Inversiones Dalport SA, is willing to pay €500m for the site of the club's old Mestalla stadium.

"The grand Valencia project was held up by the economic crisis," Soriano said in quotes carried in the Spanish media.

"The club had a serious liquidity problem which paralysed its plan for growth. The very existence of Valencia was under threat but this is no longer the case."

He added at a press conference: "We will not be obliged to sell."

Thats no Joaquin or Fernandes then.

This is really really optimistic statement by Soriano, with a level of crisis it's in Spain right now I don't see Valencia solving their money issues anywhere soon, they will have to sell.

Does seem strange considering the state of the economy in Spain and the crisis is property and land over there - any day of the week 500 mill is a lot for a site.

Then again how much have Real just spent on players.

There's no point comparing Real and Valencia situation.

Wasnt comparing, rather just commenting on how the economy of football over there seems to be so far removed from the rest of the national economy, as Spain are going through a really tough time as a nation.
Yeah, but Real situation isn't and probably ever won't be affected by local economy...
