2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

Not sure about that. When he was here the first time a lot was dictated by our financial position and the players we already had on the books, but he did consistently sign players like Drenthe, AVDM, Donovan etc to try to get pace into the side and then later on used Coleman wide and bought Mirallas.
True enough. Donovan would have changed our team on a permanent deal. My main memory is of him shoehorning Osman out wide or signing Bilyantenov (sp)

I think people forget what our budget was in those Moyes years. Look at our net spend and compare to the teams around us. We had sod all cash to throw around and although we were all frustrated by our lack of results away against the likes of Man U and the RS we were taking knives to gunfights.

Like some of the things he does but seems him give the ball away cheaply too often. Either poor passing decision or losing out one on one when he really should be going past the player. Maybe it's just getting more playing time, but I'm not overly confident when he's on the ball - feels very 50/50 if he's going to do the right thing.

Thought he was excellent against Utd. Loved his little backheel flick. Think he's been really good helping out defensively when Jake tooks in. I rate him and think he's the type of player who can really develop.

You need end product though, also having a CB behind him, does change things, is he good enough to play wide right, if hopefully we have a more attacking RB next season. He will have to do a lot in the next 10 games imo.

I think it will all come back to finances.
I think there is little doubt that DM likes him but will his fee fit into our budget given that we have so many positions to fill.

If we want to go up to the next level we need to sign wingers who can give mcneil, ndiaye type numbers throughout the team with goals/assists. We can't be carrying players who are not really offering enough. I get that he has had some decent moments or assists leading to assists. But you can tell with him and Harrison that they just aren't the level required long term. Would a team like Villa or Bournemouth start either of these players? I would argue Harrison offers more than Lindstrom but I would say both are areas we need to upgrade or at worst sign younger versions with more upside.

Yes 100% and Moyes is playing him
Because we have hardy any options, doesn’t really mean he likes him. Like was mentioned on a previous post

Amazing how many have already wrote him off after 13 starts. As someone posted above half under Dyche who would have destroyed Ronaldo and Messi with his no attacking policy. He's improved under Moyes and maybe worth remembering his loan is to the end of the season so judgement now is still early. Looks a confidence player to me and his spell at Napoli has knocked it out of him.
He def has some decent ability.

Thats not strictly true. Moyes first few games here he picked him and on the bench was harrison young garner and beto. He's had options if he really never fancied him. Its only really McNeil that Moyes hasnt had available.

Very few people writing him off completely to be fair. He's played 26 games for us, with 16 starts, it's enough to have formed an opinion of him i'd say. Doesn't mean the opinion is 'right' obviously, it can change either way depending on his performances over the next 10 games or whatever we've got left, but it's hardly kneejerk to pass comment on a player after 26 games (particularly one who's only on loan).

I've said before, of course he's got ability - he's an international footballer who's played in 2 of the top 5 leagues already, as well as the CL, the Europa League final and the World Cup - we're not really debating whether he's capable of playing top level football because that ship has well and truly sailed, we're just debating whether he's performing at the sort of level we want to see here in the long term.

Well he’s unlikely to play Beto at right midfield/wing back and just because dyche played garner and young right wing, doesn’t mean it was the right choice and Harrison by Trade is left winger, so it’s closer to the truth

I dont think Napoli pay 30m for him if they dont see something in him. It never worked in italy. 3 managers in a year doesnt help possibly. As already stated forget the dyche games. Everyone looked terrible under that dinosaur. He's looked ok under Moyes so it will be worth watching him now till the end of the season.

I thought he was poor, looked tired from the start, it seems he wasn’t well.

If moyes didnt fancy him he wouldnt play him. Thats one thing ive learnt about him over the years. He's warranted his place and put a shift in for a team winning games.

He’s the only probably right winger we have and some think he’s better as a 10. Young hadn’t played on the wing in years till Dyche played him there
Let’s see what happens when McNeil and ndaiye are back and Alcaraz has settled in
