Passing range looks good from the small amount I’ve seen of him and he can push up a bit too. Personally I think we’ll stick with him being a defensive mid. Certainly built like a centre half though

I did like what I read about him being able to drop into a back 3 if we have both of our full backs bombing on. It’s always a concern if we have one overlapping and the other attacking the box that we’ll get done on the counter so he could provide a bit more cover in defence to prevent that.

Barely seen him play but he looks like the right profile of player. With him/Gomes/Delph/Davies rotating we have a good mix and competition for the two positions.

£25m and probably cheaper wages also fits our transfer strategy.

He has a lot of upside at 23 too - it’s a good deal overall.

...much will depend on who else comes in. Mina/Keane doesn’t seem the best to me, and Mina has had problems putting a run of games together. I like Mina, by the way.
Common denominator is lack of pace. Both need a pacy recovery CB beside them. I see them both competing for a place alongside whomever we bring in.

Gareth Barry was brilliant at that, always knew when to sit in when Coleman and Baines bombed on
