2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Should start a bidding war if it’s got legs, start at £80m any lower offer than that it we should up it by £10m, we first need to source a left footed CB.
If he does go I reckon Estève from Burnley will be his replacement. Left footed, has been linked previously and was part of a very strong defence at Burnley last season.

Why should there be?

At this moment in time, no official offers have came in. If every time a player was linked to someone, the owning club made a statement there would be hundreds a day.

No news is good news for me. It's like a manager getting "backing of the board", being a death sentence, we dont need to make a statement.

Plus, if the club where to put any kind of statement regarding Branthwaite, it’d get twisted out of all recognition and end up being portrayed as negative in the extreme.

Not trying to be a knobhead (for once), but we're a midtable team, he has the potential to be the best defender in Europe, and 99% of clubs around the world are selling clubs. IF he wanted to leave, I wouldn't hold it against the club failing to keep him, it's the nature of modern football. I would dearly love to build a side around him though.
Think most people would agree. Obviously the fee is really important.

There's also the worry that if it's someone a bit second tier like Spurs or Newcastle, we'd be potentially widening the gap on teams we could be targeting with a fair wind and good recruitment.

If an offer is high enough the club will take it.
Depends on how high is high enough, and that all of the proceeds would be made available.

I don't see us getting £80m for him unless there was an auction. More like £65m.

Remember this , it's from 10 yrs ago

We sold him to City for over £50 mil a year later.
