2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

he’s not going.
I so hope you're right. Can't see City going for him though but Newcastle could. I'd offer him the best we can wages wise and the captaincy. If he doesn't want to sign then that's sad but we then need to rinse every single penny we can out of whoever buys him and do it quickly. This can't be left to drag on until he goes on a free in a couple of years.

Just reading the tea leaves I feel that JB is content to stay and see what happens for at least a couple years. I don't get the feeling he's going to jump at the first offer of high wages somewhere else - he's got a good thing going here, and moving elsewhere to some finicky club with 7 centre halves could derail things for him.

We're a club on the up, moving into a glistening new stadium, a manager that has proven an ability to get into Europe with less money, we're got the ownership mess sorted, and he has to look no further than the keeper he protects as evidence he can play at the highest levels of international football while at Everton.

We need to sign him to a big contract, sure we can't offer what Chelsea can but something reasonable for us and him, and get a big release clause in there.

He's also young for a CB, compared to something like a winger. His career runway is longer.

In line with the above, I expect him to stay in the short term while he's in and around the England squad. Thinking a little further ahead I wouldn't be surprised if his aim was to get himself in the shop window at the next world cup.
If we have shown him we are moving in the right direction, he might stay on longer. If not, he'll hopefully have a queue of minted clubs willing to hand over their cash and give him a shot at trophies.

I think this season has shown that there are no guarantees with where you end up, and what position you'll actually be fighting for. Chelsea surprised everyone by turning it around, whereas United ended up a complete state. City have uncertainty around them, Arsenal have the potential to implode.

Liverpool would be best for him if it wasn't for the local rivalry, and Newcastle a possibility if they get into the Champions League. More reason for us to beat them on Sunday and stop them from qualifying!

Can you join our hiring team? We can send you in to speak to Jarrad about why he should stay.

This lad could have an everton career like Seamus if he chooses to stay. And unlike Seamus he's likely to see a few pots come our way. Confident.

Or he could go for mega-bucks and collect a few more pots, and just be another fish in a large squad, unappreciated by fans.

….life and career decisions for these young men. Football can be a cruel game, especially this time of years with hundreds of youngsters being released. I never blame a player for taking advantage of the position he’s in, Branthwaite is a talent and he should do whatever he feels is right for him.

I'm more confident of him staying this year than last
It's weird, isn't it. I feel the same way but I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it's the new stadium, maybe it's the teams in the European spots not really needing a centre half as a priority but I think he's more likely to be here than anywhere else come September. Watch me be proven wrong in a couple of weeks time!
