Found the recent critism of his aerial prowess misplaced, sure enough he won every single header against forest

That's his record in the league this season, far from the "dominant force" a fella of his height should be.

Not particularly far away from other defenders.

JB at 57% won, Ruben Diaz at 56%, Saliba at 62%, Colwill at 60%, Gabriel at 59%, gvardiol at 57%, guehi at 58%, Schaar at 38% and Konsa at 52%.

Nowhere near Tarks at a whopping 74%, but then he does an awful lot of thinks Tarks isn't capable of.

Where possible Tarkowski challenges for the long punts with Branthwaite on the cover with his pace. That will have some impact on the stats.

…I was really impressed watching him at Goodison this season, when he scored and looked so composed for a defender his age. I also thought he was outstanding for England in the summer, looks a proper leader and I remember thinking I could see what the fuss is about. Be interesting what @Alan Whittle says.
Hey am just another guy on internet who's opinions mean absolute diddly squat.

He's never impressed me... comparing him to Branthwaite is apples and oranges.

I'm with you, he's looked an outstanding defender, and a pairing of him at RCB and Branthwaite at LCB could be England's centre back pairing for the next 5 years, if they could get a decent manager who'd recognise this.

Guehi is very highly rated and well thought of at Palace. His positional play is excellent, he is very calm and leads by example. Certainly most comfortable on the left side of a 3 but has played for us in a 4. He was instrumental in helping to keep 7 away clean sheets in a row recently ( he was suspended for Man C and was no more liable than anyone else for the Newcastle farago).
Branthwaite seems to me to be a different type of CB altogether but fantastic at what he does. Needs a chance at full international level, he has earned it.

But of a concern that he's better as an LCB, as I see him as a bit further along than Branthwaite.

Well, in terms of games played he is but I’ve thought for a while that they might make a good England pairing. Sometimes at CB it’s more important how effective your defensive pair is than playing your best individual defender. I think they have some complementary qualities.
